"Lousy weather, long commutes, rising unemployment and the highest sales tax rate in the country are to blame for the Windy City being near the top of our list. High rates of corruption by public officials didn't help either."

How was Chicago able to lure Boeing from Seattle over Dallas?

It is also bankrupt. Obama will make America like Chicago and he is helped by gutless RINOs.

High rates? Try over 1,000 IL pols imprisoned for corruption since the 1970's at an estimated cost to the long suffering Illinois taxpayer of 300 MILLION dollars.

Why IL citizens haven't burned the Capitol in Springfield and City Hall in Chicago to the ground yet is absolutely beyond me.

Meanwhile, citizens of Philadelphia, New Orleans, Detroit, Baltimore, Camden, Newark, etc. and etc. beg to differ.

Whaddaya mean ‘Chicago One of America’s most Miserable Cities’? Why, next to Detroit and DC, it’s the closest thing to a socialist paradise we have in the USA. And, Chicago is where 0bama learned everything he knows about running anything.

Crime rates for Chicago, IL

They didn't mention the out of control crime rate.

All that heavy duty gun control has really paid off

Chicago has a crime index of 9 - 100 is the safest rating.

"This city is safer than 9% of the cities in the US.

Agreed to let them have no sales tax for (IIRC) 20 years. This is killing us as it didnt' bring in a huge number of jobs, but it did take a lot of valuable property downtown out of the tax base. Of course the Mayors buddies who owned the property made out like bandits, but that must just be a coincidence.

Chicago can’t be worse than Detroit or New Orleans.

> Chicago would seem to be on quite a roll these days. The city is a leading contender to host the Summer Olympics in 2016. The hometown Cubs had the most wins of any team in the National League last year and are one of the early favorites to win the 2009 World Series. And, of course, one of its own just became the most powerful person in the world (we’re not talking about Oprah either, but she’s close).

My BS radar is still reeling from the drool of another Obamaton propaganda piece.

The south side of Chicago is a miserable place and certainly the scariest place that I ever stumbled into.

I will second you on that...

My brother-in-law lived on the south side in a crappy apartment (it was cheap, he was going to grad school)--we went to visit him in summer of '07 and I heard a few gunshots and screams... We drove around the area during the day, and it was scary then.... I can't imagine at night. He had his brand new flat screen television stolen right out of his apartment. He's not the brightest bulb...... having the company deliver it and carry it in a huge box with "HDTV" printed on it in the south side of Chicago is the makings of bad things to come....

I live in a Chicago suburb, and I can see why the city is miserable. The city has a high violent crime rate, many high city sales taxes, and many politicians (almost all Democrats) who are being investigated by the U.S. attorney, for accepting bribes.
