"Kinda like Hillary in New York, less Ditka?

I don’t see any real difference, other than the R after his name."

Okay, let me take this a little slower. The original election was supposed to be between Jack Ryan and Barrack Obama. The initial polls actually had Ryan leading. Then the LA Times got a court injunction to be able to lift the sealing of Ryan's divorce. Apparently Ryan was a kinky type of guy and it was in the divorce papers. Because of this, Ryan was forced out of the race by public opinion.

The Illinois state republican party had to select someone to run against Barry. They originally asked Mike Ditka but he turned them down. No republican politician in the state was interested because it was a losing proposition. It was too close to the election (like less than 3 months) and people thought they could not mount an effective campaign. In desperation, the Illinois state republican party asked Alan Keyes to run and he accepted their offer. It was either he run or Barry run unopposed for the open Senate seat.

Now if you don't see a difference in that and Hillary cherry picking the Senate seat she ran for, then I have to seriously question your powers of understanding.

Now what are you doing introducing facts into the situation when there is an opportunity for indiscriminate Keyes-bashing?

Okay, I’ll ‘type slower’ maybe that’ll help you.

Clinton ran for Senator in a state she wasn’t from, and only moved there to meet the rather lame state requirements to be eligible for the election.

Keyes famously decried this, and at the time I agreed with him.

Then he did the same thing, moving to Il. At the behest of the GOP or not, doesn’t matter. Clinton claimed the same was done by the NY Dems. Remember?

Yep, Obama and the Daley machine did what they always do to opponents, they cheated and opened Ryan’s divorce proceedings. Personally, I’m kinda glad they did so, what if he won THEN that crap came out? Ryan would have looked STUPID, given who his wife was.

You can split hairs if you want, but at the end of the day its the same thing...except of course Keyes lost, Clinton won handily.

Perhaps, but I think it was all mock outrage. The politically suicidal Illinois GOP ran by loser Judy Barr Topinka was Ryan's downfall. Ryan was the right candidate in the wrong state. It's a shame what they did to that good man. That's about the time I started watching Obama. He was being groomed for the national stage even at that time. The machine was already behind him and he couldn't lose against anyone.
