Has any nation, especially one already drowning in debt, ever succeeded in taxing, borrowing and spending its way into prosperity?

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
Franklin D Roosevelt
1933 Inaugural Address

Compare that with Obama in 2009. The only thing we have is fear.

This is retarded. If government spending/expanding government improved the economy than the Soviet Union would still be around and Cuba would be an economic powerhouse.

But none of the genius GOP consultants are smart enough to come up with anything any idiot could figure out. You know who really annoys me is Romney's former aide Kevin Madden. That guy is utterly useless.

Possibly the worst spokesman for the GOP since Scott McClellan.

You know, if Obama isn't able to turn this nation to Socialism, to him, it could be considered a 'catastrophe'.

He really seems to be stuck at about age eight emotionally. Seeing his little rant, I expected to see him threaten to hold his breath until he turns blue if Congress doesn’t give him his way.

What if stimulus IS catastrophe? The real choice is between deep recession or depression. Obama is choosing to create a depression, to accelerate an economic collapse. It may be his plan.

For a guy who is not an economist, has never held an executive position and who is only 47 years old and has lived here less than half of his life, How, pray tell, does Obama know that our current situation will devolve into a “National Catastrophe?” His presidency is and will continue to be a catastrophe, but the WHOLE country? I seriously doubt it? Americans (unlike Kenyans) are tough and we can pull ourselves out of this big bank created mess without the dumbbutt government getting involved.

If we spent 1 million a day from the time Christ was born until today, we would not be able to spend this much money

I keep thinking how fortunate we are to have the example of the Japanese recession and their many efforts to manipulate their economy. They have failed miserably and their recession/stagnation is approaching 20 years, so surely our government wouldn’t make the same mistakes.

But then I remember that the party in power isn’t interested in a healthy economy so much as in creating more power for themselves and assuring a large constituency that is beholden to them.

Shine the light on those SOB’s and make them squirm.

I think it is time for Chairman Steele to contact the 3 GOP senators and tell them if they vote for this mess it will be their last vote as Republicans.

This bill if it were to pass could still be stopped by states claiming sovereignty thus refusing to be bought by the federal government.

I am hoping Sarah Palin has considered dropping the other boot and telling Obama what to do with his “stimulanter”.

Alaska and Texas together can re-shape America.

Now is the appropriate time to spool-up Al Gore’s famous tirade about how Bush - “deceived YOU!...He played on your FEARS!!!”

Then ask why isn’t 0bama also doing the exact same thing now with his proclamation “its certain death if you DON’T give me what I want Porkulus”?

Hey for once, I might find myself agreeing with Gore’s comments about the CURRENT US President doing just that.

"Let's be clear: We can't expect relief from the tired, old theories that, in eight short years, doubled the national debt, threw our economy into a tailspin and led us into this mess in the first place," Mr. Obama said.

Let me be clear. Obama is a fraud and a liar. Old theories (conservatism) did not bring about the current crisis. Massive spending and government expansion did.

True change would be to embrace conservative principles. Cut taxes, stop wasteful spending, and get rid of Congressional programs and projects which are not Constitutionally prescribed in Article I, Section 8. Leave them to the states.

If Congress would do their job, stop meddling in everything, and get out of our wallets, we would see a tremendous stimulus.

He needs to get this passed quickly so it can cause a "a national catastrophe."
"The time for action is now," ... "Because if we don't move swiftly to put this plan in motion, our economic crisis could become a national catastrophe"
Translation:
"Nancy, Harry, Barney and I need you to turn your pockets inside out right now.

"If you wait, it will be too late as the economy will correct it's self within six months.

"We need to strech this out to flesh out our voter base."
