Jindal Says Republicans Can Only Blame Themselves for Loss

SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Saturday that the Republicans only had themselves to blame for losing control of Congress and the White House.

"The country fired us from our congressional majority in 2006. Why? The country didn't stop being conservative. The Republican Party did," Jindal told a gathering of Arkansas Republicans. "We became what we came to Washington to change -- the party of earmarks and government spending. The party needs to stop worrying about what to do to fix itself. Let's worry more about fixing our country. Then the party will fix itself."

Yes. Last night I was at a Republican Forum dinner here in AZ and the speaker as the new, Republican Speaker of the HOuse...a very young man. He explained how when they took over last month they found a 1.2 billion deficit. This new body, made the tough cuts..they did what they HAD to do and now that deficit has been fixed. He was telling us how Janet Napalitano used shady accounting in hopes that the economy would turn and cover up all mistakes..but then..we know what happened to her and the whole mess was left to the new house. BUT THEY DID WHAT THEY HAD TO DO.

Those are the people we need to bring up through the ranks. The people actually DOING the work.

Jindal you magnificent bastard! Now we need to boot the rest of the “let’s get along/dumbass lite” RINOs and show the country what a real conservative form of governance is like.

I had solid conservative representation till the geniuses who make these decisions decided my congressman was a lost cause and stripped him of party money late in the campaign. They left him to lose by a whole 2% and I have a shiny new socialist democrat to represent me.

Worse still is the fact that the scumbag RINO my congressman defeated in the previous election endorsed the democrat in this one.

Gov. Jindal is right on target. Let's get an exit hole in the big tent so the RINOs can escape.

Sorry, Bobby, but the Country did stop being conservative. If think otherwise, you just haven’t been paying attention. 50+ years of liberal missionary work have finally paid off.

In 2002 the republican party motto was “I got mine!”

In 2008 the republican party motto is “What happened?”

Why? The country didn’t stop being conservative. The Republican Party did

This also explains the overwhelming reaction to Sarah Palin got on the campaign trail. Folks certainly weren't turning out by the tens of thousands to see McLaim.

Jindal is spot on and I hope the Republican country club elitists types choke on it.....

Thanks Hildy....It is good to know there are some Republicans that are trying to do the right thing....

I really needed to hear that.... lately, all the news has been so discouraging....

Partially correct. Republicans also have to reconcile themselves to how they screwed up with regards to the Iraq war. Let’s face it: Spending is a small part of the story as to why Republicans lost. Iraq is a big part of the story. Long-term, immigration is a very important part as well - the Republicans have allowed the Democrats to import millions and millions of loyal voters. That is hardly the way a successful party operates.
