Prince Charles targeted by Madoff fund
Telegraph ^ | 06 Feb 2009 | Andrew Pierce

The Prince of Wales was allegedly targeted as a potential investor by agents working for the alleged fraudster Bernard Madoff's £34 billion Ponzi scheme.

The heir to the throne is named alongside European aristocracy in documents supplied to US prosecutors. He was allegedly approached by Prince Michael of Yugoslavia at a Polo tournament in 2002 which was also attended by Prince William and Prince Harry.

Prince Michael, a distant cousin of Crown Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia, was an investment executive of Access International Advisors, which was a Madoff feeder fund.

But the Prince of Wales declined to become involved with the fund which was run by Thierry Magon de La Villehuchet, 65, who was found dead in his New York office in December after potentially losing £1 billion with Madoff who is under house arrest in New York.

The future King was allegedly sounded out by Prince Michael who along with Philippe Junot, the first husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco, used to seek investors on the stamping grounds of the rich from the ski slopes of Switzerland to Monte Carlo and the Mediterranean.

The documents which name the Prince of Wales were released as part of his testimony to a congressional panel on Feb. 4. "It is my belief that Access likely had several royal families as clients invested in Madoff," Markopolos said. "He was truly masterful in using his feeder funds to draw in people close in make-up to the owners of the feeder funds."

This scam was worldwide.

That list is very long.

Remember what Dad always said: “A fool and his money are soon parted!”

As this fraud unfolds-----Madoff’s mindset becomes more and more apparent.

Despite that endearing doe-eyed look, the crinkly, winsome smile and grandfatherly “trust me” demeanor----this is a man with an elitist, unmitigated contempt for all of humanity.

In his diseased pathological mind, he, Bernie was Master of all he surveyed---no one was beneath his contempt.....his multi-millionaire co-religionists, captains of industry, the super-rich, even royalty.

You gotta admire Prince Charles for declining----gotta wonder why.

Prince Charles has always been "sympathetic to Arab Causes" -- so he naturally refused to do business with a Jew.

Prince Charles is a comical fellow and one day (barring disaster) here in the Commonwealth he is going to be our King: an idea that is met with a certain amount of amusement and a certain amount of bemusement.

One thing that can and must be said in Prince Charles’ favor, in order to be fair. While he is unarguably eccentric to the point of being comical, he is no fool — unlike the way the media and others would like to portray him. He is particularly not a fool with his money, and he has lots and lots of that.

While they might be very in-bred and an odd bunch, the Royal Family has existed at the top of Society’s rungs for a very long time, in various (often convoluted) forms. That doesn’t happen by accident.

I’d be willing to bet that Prince Charles can spot a bunco artist like Madoff a mile away: after all, separating the Royal Families of Europe from their money is an age-old occupation for some. Despite his suave, genteel demeanor Madoff-the-Fraudster probably stuck out like Dog’s Bollix to the Prince.

Whay say you? The Brit did not fall for Bernie's dewy, innocent doe-eyed look....... ....and that crinkly, winsome smile?

LOL.

Bernie made billions by the criminal use of gravitas. He should patent his grandfatherly "trust me" demeanor.....and sell it to con artists.

Old news photos of his uncle Edward, and wife Wallis, making nice with Hitler are quite jarring.

(BIG GRIN!) He probably would have had me fooled, ay. I’m a sucker for falling for the grandfatherly con-artists — particularly the ones with dewy, innocent doe-eyed looks, and that crinkly, winsome smile!

LOL it’s sad but true. That’s why they call them “Con Artists” — “con” is short for “confidence” and they operate by building confidence in their marks.

Hopefully soon, “con” will be short for “convict” in Madoff’s case, and then he can patent and sell his grandfatherly “trust me” demeanor to other convicts in some maximum-security stockade somewhere: I don’t think he will get soft-time in a Club Fed, not with the kinds of enemies he is likely to have made. With any luck he will spend the rest of his days cowering behind high, thick walls hoping that the Russian Mafia doesn’t catch up with him...

...as is only fair.
