A quorom is the minimum number of Senators that need to be present to have a vote. It is also used as a stalling tactic since a voice count of every Senator present is required.

Not too long ago, we were having wholesale Republican defections (amnesty, the Oct. stimulus bill, etc.).
Remember, 100% solidarity is exceedingly rare - even the Dems have defectors sometimes.

I have a feeling we’re in for a world of hurt, ala the Carter years.
We are Americans, let us stand up and fight for our beloved America. What we need right now is OPTIMISIM and faith in the greatness of our country. We will not let the socialists change America forever. We will defeat them. On to 2010.
That or they plan to allow him to cast the 51st and deciding vote.
We have our work cut out for us before the mid-term elections.
