Obama:
We're in the worst recession since the Great Depression! We've got to take this serious. We must be bold. I know, let's bbq up some pork. Let's have a pork bbq big enough to feed the entire nation. But why stop there? Let's really be bold and bbq up enough pork to feed the entire world!
I'm such a smart economist. All the rest of you only think you're economists.
Now go vote yes on my pork bbq.
He's only going to make people get sick of him much too early.
Are we living in an Orwellian world?
****************************EXCERPT**************************
The purpose of Newspeak was to drastically reduce the number of words in the English language in order to eliminate ideas that were deemed dangerous and, most importantly, seditious to the totalitarian dictator, Big Brother and the Party. "Thoughtcrime," the mere act of thinking about ideas like Freedom or Revolution, was punishable by torture and brainwashing. Newspeak was the sinister answer. A character in 1984 describes it succinctly: "Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end, we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible because there will be no words in which to express it... The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact, there will be no thought as we understand it now."
Is our real world today, at the beginning of the new millennium, so very different on a fundamental level from what Orwell predicted? There have been countless refutations of the 1984 dystopia: Totalitarianism is on the wane, Communism is dead, there is more prosperity, more community, more freedom than ever before.

AND THAT MUST BE CHANGED.
Obama's Job?
My completely unsolicited $0.02.....I finally figured out who Obama reminds me of, and it took his most recent panic to do it.
You know the wiseass kid who sits at the back of the class, and who has a funny smartassed remark for everything? Right now, Obama reminds me of what that kid looks like, when he finally gets called out by the teacher.
I was a smartass in school....I've got a little experience with the notion. :-)
The first and simplest stage in the discipline, which can be taught even to young children, is called, in Newspeak, crimestop. Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc, and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction. Crimestop, in short, means protective stupidity.
But stupidity is not enough. On the contrary, orthodoxy in the full sense demands a control over one's own mental processes as complete as that of a contortionist over his body. Oceanic society rests ultimately on the belief that Big Brother is omnipotent and that the Party is infallible. But since in reality Big Brother is not omnipotent and the Party is not infallible, there is need for an unwearying, moment-to-moment flexibility in the treatment of facts.
The key word here is blackwhite. Like so many Newspeak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to believe that black is white, and more, to know that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary.
You might be on to something there. I thought his idea of delaying the digital conversion was pretty lame, considering the feds were basically giving the converters away.
A chicken in every pot and some pot in every kitchen.
The heck with the 40 acres and a mule!
No.
The point was that taking your case to the people was something that Reagan did with great success and Bush never learned. But Obama did learn. It won't work (I hope) but he knows it can. Bush never did.
“Basically vote for my pork or I will get on TV everyday and try to incite further economic chaos. What a nice President we have.”
Hussein is just showing his true colors — he is a punk thug.
Really? We'll see. He's only been in there 2 1/2 weeks.
I think his "taking the case to the American people" is going to get real old real fast.
Wow! The sky is truly falling! How did we make it to over 150 posts and the oh noz guys aren’t all over this thing???
BAMA DRAMA AND GIBBS FIBBS ARE RUINING THE ECONOMY!!!!!!

You don’t wanna know how he was in Chicago... it seems a lot of people didn’t want to know.
He may overuse it. That doesn’t change that it can work. I wish Bush had done it.
LOL!
Question. Why would he have an economic board introduced to help through the crisis, if he’s pushing crap and doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing? (Oh, besides paying off special interests, yes... ACORN, lawyers, the unions and other backers).
It’s like him discussing what to do re: Gitmo with 9-11 families when he not only signed off on closing, halted trials and broke his neck on this ‘next to be tried’ Gitmo terrorist yesterday (timed nicely with AQ Khan’s release I might add). We find out charges may never be brought as well. So what is it to talk about?
When he had dems saying ‘We need to go back to committees, studies and the usual procedures on this stuff... instead of slamming it through, I knew it was bad.
How about a hat too. Then you'll have a pork pie hat.
“What I thought was particularly interesting was Husseins line that, These days, everyone thinks they are an economist. Funny coming from a man who has never even had a real job, studied econimics in college, or had to manage/run anything.”
But if all he did was read what his biological father wrote on the subject - then that explains everything right there.
