bringing accountability to the airwavesThe First Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that expressly prohibits the United States Congress from making laws ...that infringe the freedom of speech, infringe the freedom of the press...--wikipedia
But you know better, don't ya, Lil' Debbie?

Just remember. Stabenow can be intimidated into backing down. We’ve done it a few times with big issues.

I don't think Sean mentioned this yesterday, read about her husband, Tom Athans. He is deeply involved in liberal talk radio.

Well, if they want “balance” let's give it to them in spades. Every liberal tv news outlet, and every newspaper throughout the country should be shouldered with the same “standard” of balance. Considering the only thing we essentially control are the radio airwaves, this would be a net gain for conservatives.

Got to LOVE this non-photoshopped image of Stabenow standing next to a sign that she was using to diss Bush...
You'd think
someone would have told her how ridiculous she looked! LOL!

"And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place." Tell ya what, Deb. Look in the mirror and start there. Once you've finished with that chore, move on to government. That should keep you plenty busy. In the mean time, the airwaves are doing just fine without you screwing them up like you folks do with everything else you mess with.

"For many, many years, we operated under a Fairness Doctrine in this country," Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., told Albuquerque radio station KKOB last year. "I think the country was well-served. I think the public discussion was at a higher level and more intelligent in those days than it has become since."Of course Bingaman thinks "the country" was well served when the only voices heard by the masses were those supporting HIS positions and reelections.

This fairness doctrine crap is just yet another attempt to get the liberal adjenda out. Nationwide liberal talk shows are taking a beating while folks like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity,Laura Ingram,Mark Levin Rusty Humphries, Glen Beck, etal have their viewers & listeners growing. Kinda strange when they ALL INVITE liberal politicians & icons on their shows to debate the issues & can’t get them to appear and yet these same a$$hats are trying to legislate/mandate a counter point of view, to put liberals on shows that they fail to appear on when invited. WHAT COMPLETE IDIOTS, they don’t even realize the falseness of their arguement & the vast hypocracy of their position

"I think the country was well-served. I think the public discussion was at a higher level and more intelligent in those days than it has become since." Sean Hannity was on fire yesterday. It was great to hear.
Public Radio is commercial radio. People vote with their wallet. Air time is paid by sponsors. Sponsors pay for shows that people listen.
If they did not listen, the sponsors would not be paying. That is accountability.
The majority party is revealing their colors. They just don't understand how a democratic republic is supposed to work.
Government needs to get out of the way and let the people, the market, that economy work itself out.

“...But other Democrats in the Senate and House and even a few Republicans have made no secret of their support for such legislation...”
In any Republicans are supporting the unfairness doctrine, they need to be cut off from funding and replaced. Now.

People really need to do a better job of searching for threads that are already posted. I think this one has been posted twice already, and I've noticed other articles being posted and reposted several times.
I'm not trying to beat anyone up, just an observation. Just like the article about Palin versus Judd. I see two on here this morning and there have at least two others referencing the same article in the previous couple of days.

"For many, many years, we operated under a Fairness Doctrine in this country," Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M.(and a self proclaimed Guardian of the Universe), told Albuquerque radio station KKOB last year. "I think the country was well-served. I think the public discussion was at a higher level and more intelligent in those days than it has become since."Gee, Jeff, my copy of the Constitution must have ommitted the "higher level and more intelligent" wording in the 1st Admendment. But thanks for pointing that out, oh great Bingaman, arbiter elegantiarum supreme. Where would dumb hicks like me be without you and your cohorts...

our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. We should ask Pretend Senator Stabmenow, "you are being sarcastic, right? Obama talks about a lot of things, then does the total opposite. Ask Obi for his long form birth certificate."
