WASHINGTON (AP) - Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had surgery Thursday after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the court said.
Ginsburg, 75, had the surgery at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She will remain in the hospital for seven to 10 days, said her surgeon, Dr. Murray Brennan, according to a release issued by the court.
The court announcement said the cancer is apparently in the early stages.

I will pray for her recovery (not just because Obama has the power to nominate, although that will add to my sense of urgency).
Who could he find that's more liberal?
Any ideas who might be in the on deck circle?
William Ayers?
With that being said, Zero could not appoint anyone more left wing than her, other than Bill Ayers.
Bill Clinton
Pancreatic cancer has a poor prognosis. Less than 5% of those diagnosed are still alive 3 months after diagnosis.
Dunno, but I’ll bet 0 will give it a try.
Prayers for Justice Ginsburg.
I agree, but I bet 0 is dancing a gig at the prospect of a nomination in his 1st year.
Exactly. As bad as some of the "Living Constitution" oligarchs are, it's actually possible to find worse. I'm afraid, very afraid, that Obama will show a great deal more creativity in this area than we encounter in our worst nightmares. We could end up missing even our most liberal justices once we see how far down that road Obama wants to go.
Expect a “Johnny Cochran-like” replacement.
I have heard that pancreatic cancer is extremely painful. I will pray for her.
He’ll put someone young, and very left wing. Ginsberg is as left as you can get, but imagine someone with her views and only 45!! They’ll be on the court for over 30 years.
Not much further damage can be done in nominating a new Justice to replace her.
What’s sad is that when Obama was elected, I thought that the worst part of it for conservatives would be his Supreme Court nominees and impact on the federal judiciary because I’d hoped he’d be smart enough to govern as a moderate. Given how incompetent he’s been with the pork package, his appointments, and his stated objectives with respect to national defense in just his first two weeks, I think I was wrong and it may turn out that Surpeme Court nominees are the least of our concern with him and the wheel.
No WAY.
TOOOOO controversial for the Supremes.
Who could he find that’s more liberal?
