Yes, every year even after they leave office and become lobbyists. And subject them to the same penalties as the rest of us! And any gun law should apply to the Secret service 5 years before it applies to anyone else.
If you did that, then only people “who don’t pay taxes” could be in public service.
Let them pass the Rangel Rule first. I will stop paying taxes entirely and let them complain as long as they want. Then I will pay much later with no penalty. What’s good for the goose....
May I add that I hate it when the media says the elected officials are public servants.....I don’t think so. They are paid too much. A public servant is slinging fruit cups at the local soup kitchen.

At first blush I liked the idea, but reality set in, and realizing our tax system is so convoluted and huge that no one entity could possibly know or understand all the myriad “gotchas” lurking within, I sadly realized not one person who has ever signed on the IRS form dotted line could pass a 100% accuracy scrutiny check. This would simply become a new catch all political witch hunt which would deter any sane person from ever running for elected office.
Case in point - the high rate of errors in answers provided by IRS help line employees to people calling in with questions.
Good idea - BUT - THEM THAT DON’T PAY ARE IN CHARGE

Not only an IRS audit, but any and all testing of any sort that is required of any American citizen on the government payroll in any capacity. Leadership demands undergoing whatever the followers are expected to undergo.
