The European Union warned the US yesterday against plunging the world into depression by adopting a planned Buy American policy, intensifying fears of a trade war.
The EU threatened to retaliate if the US Congress went ahead with sweeping measures in its $800 billion (£554 billion) stimulus plan to restrict spending to American goods and services.

The last thing I want is more Bush domestic policies...they were awful...now as GOP it is our duty to blame Obama. However, we know the truth. The problem is that there is no one to stand up for American...Reagan was the last president who gave a damn about this country in terms of American business and jobs. Bush kept us safe...and that means a great deal...his economic policies endangered us...just like those who came before him...except Reagan. I wish we had elected Perot...who was correct in his assessment of our economic policies at the time and where they would lead us-bankruptcy.
It’s not just union workers. If you have not noticed, every nation has “protectionist” policies to some degree. I don’t want to stop trade, but zero protection for US jobs is not the answer either.
The Obama “buy American” would be the end of free trade and affordable stuff.
Then Obama helps the Unions with his “stimulus” plan, killing more jobs.
The "Buy American" clause is limited to the money spent in the sty-mulus bill. I am strongly opposed to this "sty-mulus" bill, but if the US does borrow $1T to spend, the EU has no standing to tell us how to spend it. The article seems to say that they are quibbling over the phrasing of the title of that section of the bill, not what the law would actually do.
Obama should cut corporate tax rates and allow us to drill for and refine more oil here, to keep more jobs here, and cut spending. But looks like Obama is not really interested in saving real jobs here, let alone creating new ones.

You are right. It should be corrected to say that she was permitted to stay without a visa...
I sincerely hope so...
