Palin stiffs the House Republicans
ABC News - The Note ^ | 2009-01-31

Posted on 02/01/2009 11:48:02 AM PST by rabscuttle385

When House Republicans planned their annual winter retreat, they extended an invitation to Alaska Gov. Sara Palin, hoping the party's 2008 vice presidential nominee would give a morale-building speech to the more than 130 Republican members of Congress gathered this weekend in Hot Springs, Va.

Retreat organizers tell ABC News that Palin politely declined, giving a perfectly understandable reason. According to the Congressional Institute, which hosted the conference, Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend.

So where is Palin this weekend? She's in Washington, D.C., attending the super-elite Alfalfa Dinner.

"She lied to us," said a Republican at the retreat.

The question is, is she attending state business while in WAshington?

Yes she is.

The retreat is a feel good RINO-fest.

Who knows, maybe the GOP scheduled the retreat to try to lure Sarah away from Washington.

I would imagine they are jealous and steamed she was invited.

Maybe she went for the alfalfa sprouts?

The GOP does not want Palin to get more national attention so they invited her off into the woods for their RINO love-fest.

Oh yes, she’s attending the Alfalfa Dinner and according to other articles meeting privately with both democrat/republican Senators to lobby for state money in the proposed stimilus package.

snip: http://richmonddemocrat.blogspot.com/2009/02/palin-comes-to-dc-to-lobby-and-have.html
“She has requested we do not schedule any interviews for her,” said Bill McAllister, Palin’s communications director. Instead, McAllister said, Palin is traveling to Washington to lobby senators to approve certain infrastructure projects for Alaska in the economic stimulus package.
end snip

The lady still has a lot to learn about making friends and influncing those needed if she wants another national ticket spot.

Yup, they’re desperate to drive a wedge between us because pretty soon even liberal retards are going to realize Obozo is a fool and they were sold a bill of goods.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. No matter what she does, someone is going to be unhappy.

Exactly. Here's what ABC would have wrote if she attended the GOP retreat:

"PALIN ATTENDS RIGHT-WING, PARTISAN RETREAT WITH TOP REPUBLICANS"

Republican stars Michael Steele, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich.

Mega gross, Romney, Pawlenty and Gingrich I can’t stand. No wonder she didn’t go. I wouldn’t have gone either.

Those Rinopublicans just voted unanimously against the porkulus bill. Let’s do ourselves a favor and call a deuce a deuce. She made a mistake, that’s all.

Agreed . It would take days to wash the stink off. The idiots still prattling on about the press spliting the party must have spent the last few months in a coma. What republican party ? Palins future has nothing to do with the drones in congress. She should avoid being seen with any of that lot.

Not beating Steele up here.

Just that he's not a conservative by any means.

Unless, of course, we are now equating conservatism to the likes of Lieberman, or Romney, as has been postured by some here on FR.

Folks, I hope none of you missed the fact this is being presented by ABC. There is a full court press going on right now to destroy Sarah Palin, both inside and outside of the media, and some of our ‘own team’ is more than happy to play along.

Sarah will reveal herself over time. There’s no need to form a frozen opinion on her today. And when we do, I would hope we wouldn’t for that opinion based on the MSM’s propaganda.

She had already announced to the people of Alaska that this weekend was not going to include any partisan activity. If she had attended that event, she would have caught hell at home, and that would have been the Huffington Post’s club. Besides, I’m betting that her appearance at the Alfalfa Club dinner was planned quite sometime ago, whereas the other event was probably organized more recently.

She has her PAC which is raising money for use during the 2010 mid term senate and house elections, and I’m betting she comes to the lower 48 to do some campaigning as well. That will more than make up for any slight that they felt because she didn’t come to their event.

Maybe she did. Or maybe the “unnamed Republican” was one of many anti-Palins in the GOP. Let him name himself. It would be an easy lie to tell. There were many times during the election that I believe she was mishandled by GOPer on purpose.

Exactly. I don’t think we’re getting a fair and balanced report on this.

Norm, c’mon. You know damn well this is nothing more than high-school gossip from ABC masquerading as a news story. Probably to push Daschle tax-scandal off the page. Do you honestly believe that ABC empathizes with the Republicans who supposedly got stiffed?

Palin said she simply could not make it to the retreat because pressing state business made it impossible for her to leave Alaska this weekend

For some reason I don't believe the event organizer.........

If she wasn't in Washington I would say she wanted to stay home with her family and watch the super bowl........

Hell, my brother-in-law called me last night and invited me over to their house for the game today after I had my two martini's and of course I said "sure, I'll be there".

Only thing is, I don't really care for the guy and question his motivation behind the invitation. Last time I accepted an invitation from him to go out and do some clay shooting then back to their house for a late afternoon lunch and beers, while chilling out on the couch watching a ball geme, he blind sided me by asking me if I would help him take down their pool..........Jerk!

No, read the letter she sent to the Alaska congressional delegation, and listen to her State of the State address. She told them no pet projects. She’s under attack by the democrats in Alaska for not taking money beyond funds that would normally come from the government for roads, and gas pipeline.

First, ABC as a news source for the entire story is laughable. I await further information.

Second, Republican politicians should be attending workshops, not retreats, and I don’t mean semantically.

Let’s not let the media try to create a sophomoric atmosphere among the Repubicans. She didn’t wanna go, she had other stuff to do.

WHO CARES?

You can damn well bet the media would love to see this distract us all from the important objective of halting Hussein’s liberalism.
