PITTSBURGH STEELERS VS. ARIZONA CARDINALS
6:00PM ET - NBC
Some drunk college kids setting a couple of fires in the street. Idiots.
I get the impression the Ironmen didn’t last - was just the off-season.
Steelers is a better name for them, especially since the baseball Pirates were already there.
There in the city, or at the SB?
I've been on the losing side often enough to empathize with others when I'm on the winning side.
But that was typical. Many cities named the football for the baseball.
NY still officially has the “New York FOOTBALL Giants”, to distinguish them from the baseball team. Of course, NY no longer has a Giants BB as they are now in SanFran.
That 100 yard interception - longest play in Superbowl history

Hey, I dont blame you, you should be happy for your team, I would be happy if it were mine. And my angst here isnt against your average steeler fan. I know several, and like them. As a Raider fan, I tend to have a respect level for the older, historic teams, and want them to do well. I just hate that Obama worship had to rear its ugly head.
But it does beg the question; how do you put politics aside when the owner injects politics at his first opportunity? Its kind of like how do judge a president on his deeds and forget about his race, when every 3 seconds everyone in the media stops to remind you of his race? Mike Tomlin is a heck of a coach in my opinion. I remember watching him earlier in the season and thinking that. But how happy can I be, knowing that now he is going to be the poster boy for that affirmative action “rooney rule” nonsense.
But congrats to the Steelers, and you certainly deserve your celebration. I just wish that it could just be about the football.
The NY Jets started as the Titans (get it, Giants, Titans) then changed to Jets to rhyme with Nets and Mets. For a few years people called all three teams the "Ets."
My favorite goofy sports name was when the New Orleans Jazz moved to Utah and kept their team name. There's nothing that reflects the culture of Utah like Jazz music.
I am a Pittsburgh fan. Steelers, Penguins, Pirates (God help 'em) and both Pitt & PSU.
It's part of who I am. I was a 'Burgh fan before I cared about politics, and when old man Rooney is dead and gone I will still be a 'Burgh fan.
I hate everything 0bama stands for, but please understand...for better or worse...I am a Pittsburgh fan!
I quit listening to sports radio a couple of months ago because all the commentators were talking about Obama as much as they were sports. As to Tomlin, I think he’s proven himself as a coach. The Steelers were not the most talented team in the NFL this year, but they played tough every game and reflected their coach. I wish Jerry Jones would try a little of that affirmative action, the Cowboys reflected their coach this year, and played like the Pillsbury Doughboys.
Yah, I’m a Cowboys fan, and you know what I’ve had to deal with for the last few years. Congratulations, BTW. Steelers played an excellent game. I was rooting for the Cards, cause they’ve been in a dry spell forever, but the Steelers played great.
He had already released two albums when the Time and Newsweak covers happened in 1975.
And I am the only one who clearly heard Michaels say, just before the final snap, that the play was reviewed upstairs and confirmed?
No, I hear you, and again, for you and all the other steelers fans out there I have no ill will.
My question about putting politics aside was more of a general one, not meaning your case in particular. It just bugs me that we cant do anything anymore without having this leftist drivel crammed down our throats....sports used to be a safe haven, but its getting harder.
But I certainly not a swipe at the players or fans. One of the best super bowls I have ever seen. Both teams can be proud. Im also a USC fan too, so really proud of Troy P. myself.
And Dick Lebeau is awesome too.
I didn’t hear Michaels. Thanks for the info.
I am posting this to you again so you can lose the Affirmative Action crap. Whiz took the job in AZ approximately a week BEFORE the Steelers made their coaching decision. He took himself out of the running for the Steeler position before any decision was made by taking the AZ job.
Memory foggy, but Whiz never quite jelled w/Big Ben (ie his criticisms of him after the motorcycle accident come to mind as the two of them not having any love lossed). Don’t you think it would be smart for a team to have a coach that works will with their field leader? Grimm was passed over (but apparently he didn’t want to stay and preferred to go w/Whiz) instead of staying w/Tomlin.
Now, given the chance, don’t you think the African American
Cardinals players would be just as happy to go to met w/Obama as their contemporaries on the Steelers are?
So do you get it now...no great liberal manifesto. Just a business decision.
I think it was a given that this game would be political. From the interview with Dear Leader in the pre-game to the halftime “entertainment” to Rooney....not to mention the network that carried it....it was just more of the left continuing the never ceasing celebration.
Saw Art Rooney,III interviewed on one of the local stations. He was asked about him not wanting to take the trophy from his dad’s hands. He answered to the affect...’So thankful he was still with us for this on.’. I really do think his (Dan’s) health is failing.
Really. No doubt. I swear it makes you want to go hermit and live in a cabin in the wilderness.
Grizzly Adams had the right idea.
