Good grief, some people see “RINOs” behind every tree!
Steele is a solid conservative!
To: meandog
Thanks, I'm speaking in MSM PR shorthand...don't you know that all white people in this country are militant white supremacists?
To: Danae
He did not endorse anyone.

Instead of talking about Steele’s skin color, why don’t we discuss the fact that he’s probably as capable a chairman as the Republicans can get?

“That’s what I read here on FR in the past couple weeks...Pro choice and damn iffy on gun issues.”
Either you are confusing Steele with someone else, or some FReeper was posting BS. I have never heard of Michael Steele refererred to as “iffy” on the 2nd Amendment, and I can guarantee you that he is as far from “pro-choice” on abortion as can be. When conservatives criticize him it’s over his opposition to the death penalty.

Nope he didn’t, but Steele only needs 6 out of that 20 and he has got it. Its pretty well certain that its gonna be Steele.

Good point. The economic collapse was the main reason. That said, the image of the guy from the whites only country club beating out the black guy isn’t exactly good. Maybe they could work out a joint chairmanship. They could say it’s an example if working together and forging new ties. Something like a power sahring agreement.
I do think McCain being a RINO hurt him, although it probably also helped him in that he picked up more moderate and dem support than someone else would have.
In the end, though, the economy was what did it.
The bad economy was what won it for Reagain in 80 over Carter and its what lost it for us this time. And the figures form 08 were much, much worse than they were in 80 when Carter lost.

We’re down to two: Dawson and Steele. Steele is ahead going into the 6th ballot.
To: popdonnelly
...and way more capable than the chairman we now have.

Steele has never used his skin color to his advantage. He never once played the race card, even when pelted with oreo cookies at one of the universities.
He is a conservative gentleman (in every sense of the word).
To: Earthdweller
The GOP has to be out of the room in 84 minutes!

Not so. Jimmy had a 10.1% unemployment and a 23.5% prime rate. I expect these numbers to be eclipsed by Obozo.
