The mother who gave birth to octuplets - giving her a grand total of 14 children - has said her babies are 'miraculous'. But as more details emerged...neighbours raised questions over whether her children will have a father in their lives at all.
The woman's mother...confirmed the octuplets were indeed the result of fertility treatment - and...had had the opportunity to abort one or more...but turned it down.
It was also revealed that the woman's father - a contractor - may be forced to return to work in Iraq to help support his 14 grandchildren.
Cramped: This two or three bedroom bungalow
in Whittier, California home to the woman who gave birth
to octuplets this week
Residents....where the unidentified mother lives said they have never seen the woman who they said looks to be Hispanic - with anyone who looked like a boyfriend or husband.
A neighbour...said: 'I dont think she is married or has a partner."
Concerns...also raised over the family's home...
But the babies' grandfather said the family have a far larger house elsewhere....
'We have a huge house, not here....'You are never going to know where it is.'
...The mother of the octuplets is believed to be 33.

The mother believed to be 33-year-old Nadya Suleman-Gutierrez now lives in a three bedroom bungalow with her parents and her six children. ...
They could, and I pray they do. I don’t begrudge the kids their lives, I just think it’s a very odd story, and I really think that doctors should think long and hard about doing something like this. The odds are never good for kids in large batches like this, and I don’t think it’s fair to play with their lives when he could have implanted 2 or 3 instead. I think we’re all on the same side. I can’t imagine what it will be like in THEIR house for the next 15 or so years! WOW! (I thought 3 was a houseful!)
That is something we should remember to pray for.
Cowbirds and cuckoos both do that. They don’t actually eat the siblings, they simply push them out of the nest (so they starve or get eaten by something else).
OK, I’ll buy that one. Unfortunately they invade many folk’s privacy. I think birth’s tho, are public records (but I could be wrong, thank goodness I don’t have to do that sort of thing for a living!)
I’m fairly easily fascinated. Makes me lots of fun at parties!
Terrorist among us?
Perhaps that's the reason for the secrecy.
Let me say unequivocally I’m against embryo reduction. That is one reason I’m also against implanting so many embryos at a time. I think the invitro issue is fraught with many problems (and I have 2 siblings who have undergone it, and fwiw none ended up with a viable pregnancy). I would really just like to know why she was implanted with so many, since it’s not like she didn’t have a history of successfully carrying babies. But, people can have as many children as they want to raise (I would have gladly had more, but my husband said 3 was what we could afford).
LOL You can call it Rosemary’s Boys and Girls from Brazil!
OK, that may explain how it was paid for, surely she gets a discount.
I’m reading upthread now that the mother worked in a fertility clinic.
Just like Michael Jackson’s ex, um, wife.
Yeah, that explains a lot to me.
If she and her family are not on some sort of government handout, then given the state of the economy and the number of mouths to have to feed, they will be shortly.
VERY low income...or on welfare.
Pretty interesting.
Also the cuckoo.
OOOOh! Good plot for a Vince Flynn thriller.
You mean a guy who is married to someone else andd works in law enforcement is the *father8 (via sperm donation) of all of her kids? That is very odd!
