Obama, allies move stimulus fight into high gear WASHINGTON (AFP) After a failed "charm offensive," US President Barack Obama and his allies unleashed a hard-hitting campaign Thursday to break defiant Republicans' thus-far united opposition to his economic stimulus plan.
The strategy called for millions of labor union members to telephone Republicans from hard-hit states, coupled with an aggressive television advertising campaign targeting potentially vulnerable Republican senators.
The ad featured Obama's warnings about the economic crisis he inherited from George W. Bush and invited viewers in Maine, New Hampshire, Alaska, and Iowa to tell their senators "support the Obama plan for jobs not the failed policies of the past," according to the script.

what you posted there is SATIRE which I put up several weeks ago with no basis in fact. my point is that what was a joke several weeks ago, has turned into truth..
Wht would any republican vote for this deomcratic speedapalooa? The WSJ article on it says only .12¢ of every dollar spent goes to job creation. That means that .88¢ of every dollar is nothing but pork!
The whole idea of this is patently ridiculous.
There is no fight here. The RATs own all of the government now and can pass whatever they wish.
Good God, what a joke.
Wht= why
Don’t be fooled, RINO’s.
If Obama/Reid/Pelosi are so sure this is going to work, and they can pass it anyway, what do they care if Judd Gregg votes no?
Why do these unions care?
It’s because they know this won’t work, but they have to “do something” and pay off all their interest groups.
They want to be able to say “hey, it didn’t work yet, but we’re all in this together.”
Others may have figured out that support for Obama is like the Rio Grande.
“Seems to me this kind of approach can backfire. “
In many ways .... This is a bad bill that will become unpopular over time. It will fail in the primary mission of turning the economy around.
"As an American I want to see the right thing done regardless of who gets the credit," Senator Bob Bennett of Utah said. "I'm going to vote against this package because it won't work."
Overall, however, Obama and the stimulus plan are popular with the US public, and Republicans have to worry about "whether in three months they want to be known only as 'the party of no,'" said Davis.
I think the pressure from the people (us) that voted for them needs to increase daily. This needs to fail. Email, call, write letters, fax letters, peaceful protests in huge numbers, whatever it takes.

Exactly — I’ve been John Galting it since January 20 of this year and intend to keep on in that direction. This means I purchase necessities only. It’s early, but I’m doing well.
Republicans in Congress would do well to enact their own version of following John Galt by continuing to refuse to endorse the impossibly pork-laden Obama “plan.”
NO votes for the Obama plan — not now, not ever~!!! Let him have all the “glory” and ALL the BLAME!
Excellent point. The downside is that in 1993, we actually had a GOP Senate caucus with enough Republicans to put up a fight and stop some of the garbage, like the stimulus and like socialized healthcare. 41 GOP Senators is a bit like the Alamo. We will fight bravely, but outcomes will be pre-ordained.
They’re probably paid to make calls.
That’s all this stimulus is...a payback to their activists and supporters.
They did the right thing, no matter the reasoning, as the Obama Administration’s new attack ads demonstrate conclusively.
JMHO.
Barack Tom Sawyer Obama tried to convince the House Republicans that painting the fence is wonderful fun, but is now angry that they didnt fall for it. He didnt want help - he wanted Republican fingerprints on it when it fails in its stated goal to revive the economy but succeeds in its hidden goal of socializing the country.

Great analogy. :)
He wants to blame anything that goes wrong on the opposition.
HEH!
Am I the first????
CHANGE!!!!
His campaign worked because he ran as a centrist.
His rhetoric was BS. When reality intrudes, the sheen will dull on the shiny new The One.
You've got the votes, but we won't go down without a fight.
More blah blah blah.
No way!
Obalmy is a "the buck stops here" type of guy. /sarc
