President Nicolas Sarkozy to push Rama Yade out of government

Rama Yade has become the second glamorous icon of ethnic diversity to face eviction from the French government, despite sending President Nicolas Sarkozy heart-shaped chocolates in a last-ditch attempt to save her career.

The 32-year-old human rights minister faces the cold shoulder from the president after refusing to "leave quietly" and join the European Parliament.

France's justice minister Rachida Dati and Rama Yade, human rights minister

Miss Yade's fate was likely to be sealed in a face-to-face showdown with Mr Sarkozy at the Elysée Palace on Wednesday after a council of ministers meeting, according to a report in Le Monde, citing government sources.

The newspaper said: "The president freezes out his human rights secretary and denigrates her in public - even if he doesn't mention her name.

According to reports, last week Miss Yade sent the specially-made chocolates to Mr Sarkozy – a self-confessed "chocoholic" - along with a note requesting a meeting on Wednesday in a bid to keep her job, but it was a futile gesture.

"Chocolates specially ordered in the shape of a heart, letters sent to the president - nothing will work," Le Monde said.

While she may not be fired immediately, the president's mind is already made up: "It's completely over [with Rama], she's unplugged," Le Canard Enchaîné, a satirical weekly, cited Mr Sarkozy as saying. "She will not be kept on in the next government [reshuffle]."

Miss Yade's expected government exit follows last week's decision by Mr Sarkozy to remove Rachida Dati, the justice minister who recently returned to work five days after giving birth.

Miss Dati, 43, will leave the justice ministry in June if she wins a seat in the European Parliament – a foregone conclusion as she is second on Mr Sarkozy's ruling UMP party list

I must confess my ignorance here.

Are the ethnic glamor gals getting canned for the right reasons or the wrong reasons?

FRENCH POLITICS, CULTURE AND FASHION PING LIST. WANT TO JOIN? FREEPMAlL ME

Rama Yade is a Socialist incompetent. Rachida Dati is a longtime member of Sarko’s UMP Right wing Party, and an effective person to have on his team.

Rama Yade is being pushed out.... Rachida is being given a boost up... a chance to run for National Office. She is very well qualified, totally charming, and holds diplomas from all the required Schools... ENA, HEC, etc.

French politics are infinitely more difficult to follow than American politics - and that includes all our Kennedys, Cuomos, and Clintons.

What the hell are they doing, anyway?

Just judging from photos of Rachida Dati, she's the last on earth I'd want to get in a back-biting contest with.

I believe that the only man who is currently in public view is LE PEN. He will never win, so France, along with the rest of Western Europe, is doomed. One of his greatest speeches was given recently in Strasbourg last year...see link.

How sickening is it to listen to the jeers of those boneheads in the audience, and Sarkozy’s elitist, arrogant glaze on a great man of France, a man who has risked his life and given his life for his nation, Jean-Marie Le Pen.

I see you are very new to FR. As Conservatives on FR know, Le Pen is an America hating, neo-Nazi, anti free trade, anti-Capitalist ANTISEMITE.

He is also a washed up old has been who never was. His brand of politics is dead forever, Thank God.

The man of the moment is still Sarko, who made sure that le Pen and his fascist party was decimated, when he consolidated the Right around his own UMP.

Your assessment on the man is completely wrong.

A man who has been on the political scene for decades and who served his country as a paratrooper against an Islamist insurgency is hardly someone who is a “washed up old has been who never was.”

>>His brand of politics is dead forever, Thank God.

Most definitely inaccurate.

Sarko, the man who talked tough but when elected completely fell for a left wing loony toon italian model. The man who won’t eliminate the concept of citizenship for anyone who is born on French soil despite the hundreds of thousands of muslims breeding, who will soon overtake the native french population.

What I’m trying to tell you is, I haven’t seen any indication that Le Pen is an “America hating, neo-Nazi, anti- Capitalist anti semite” as you put it. I don’t agree with the man regarding many principles on free trade, but he has many relevant points when it pertains to the creation of a large European economic system which is more command controlled than free-market oriented. In that aspect, he is far more free-market oriented than the rest of the European political establishment. In terms of being a neo-nazi or anti-semite, those are often thrown around at people, such as Le Pen, who don’t automatically accept mass immigration into the nation. Therefore, I tend not to automatically believe those accusations without some sort of evidence.

All the evidence one needs are in Le Pen’s words, in French newspapers.

Because he has been around for so long, the dossier on him us enormous.

He has always been anti-American, always expressed anti-capitalist sentiments, has always been an anti-semite who makes jokes about the Holoaost.

The one thing he is definitely not is a Conservative.
