Hackers Crack Into Texas Road Sign, Warn of Zombies Ahead

Transportation officials in Texas are scrambling to prevent hackers from changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, "Zombies Ahead."

Chris Lippincott, director of media relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, confirmed that a portable traffic sign at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin, was hacked into during the early hours of Jan. 19.

"It was clever, kind of cute, but not what it was intended for," said Lippincott, who saw the sign during his morning commute. "Those signs are deployed for a reason — to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there's a road closure."

"It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," he told FOXNews.com.

LOL Well, it was a Macy’s card and that’s the closest one to me.

Ah. I understand, then!
I took my friend’s mother to one of the local Macy’s to get her a winter coat. The one she got was a $225 wool peacoat, and by the time all the discounts were included, she paid $78 for it. I could afford to shop at Macy’s that way!

LOL!

I bought silverware today. Nice set too. I bought a service for 8, got a service for 4 free. With my gift card and a 15% off coupon it cost me $0. I thought that was pretty good!

It is not a feedback screech; it occurs when the ringer ought to be active (except the phone is on vibrate) and not when the microphone ought to be active. It is actually a ringtone with the gain turned all the way up for massive distortion (clipping).

Conversations are fine. It is possibly a hardware failure, except that a hard reset of the phone (re-install the OS) got rid of it... for a while.

I was at the Old Spaghetti Warehouse. About 28 yrs ago. Good? Yup. But I have never understood why there is a h in a word that sounds like spagetti to me.

I was going to or from San Francisco, Oregon, Hemet, Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Washington, and points around the compass. I’ve never lost my wanderlust. ;o]

Oddly enough I’ve wondered that too. Is it really an Italian word? It looks middle eastern....like Baghdad.

LOL Yeah. Exciting stuff huh? We lost several spoons from our old ones so I thought “what the hell”. :)

I should have said flatware...as in stainless steel.

You don’t just pass through Hemet unless your going to Idyllwild so you hike to Palm Springs.

KEWL!
There was a time when I knew most of the state of CA. Then I got to where I couldn’t stand the tree-huggers.

Now I’m in a state where Harry Reid is a minor god and a legend in his own mind. *barf*

Not much difference, I guess. Except that I was born in the “other town in Nevada.”

My nieces always called it skettigets. That got rid of the spelling confusion. ;o]

We had some friends who were from Hemet, but also, the RV manufacturer was there, and we had to get something fixed. It wasn’t as good as the original...
But I can recall some broken Corningware plates because of the streets in Hemet. Man! I should have billed the city!
