Transportation officials in Texas are scrambling to prevent hackers from changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, "Zombies Ahead."
Chris Lippincott, director of media relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, confirmed that a portable traffic sign at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin, was hacked into during the early hours of Jan. 19.
"It was clever, kind of cute, but not what it was intended for," said Lippincott, who saw the sign during his morning commute. "Those signs are deployed for a reason to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there's a road closure."
"It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," he told FOXNews.com.

**Phoebe update**
Phoebe came out of the closet and is back in her bed in the bathroom.
I decided to start force feeding her, so every hour I’m giving her about a teaspoon of wet food. I’m tilting her head like I would if I was giving her a pill, then depositing a fingertip full of food in her mouth. So far she’s keeping it down and tolerating it, but it’s rather like feeding an infant strained peas.
No eye droppers? No pablum with milk?
You’re doing just fine, Sandy! She will eat to please you.
If I were there, I would help in any way I could.
*HUG*
I thought about a dropper, but I don’t have one big enough and I seem to be getting good results with my finger.
The doctor suggested Ensure, just to get some calories into her, which I just might try tomorrow. Hopefully I can get enough food into her over the next three days that she’ll turn around are start eating on her own.
If not, at least I tried.
You do what you can do, Sandy. Anything that will help her get food and moisture in her is good. In lieu of a dropper, you might use a straw...
One of my cats (Ol’ PV) had the first case of feline leukemia that had ever been seen in the states. The vet had no clue what it was, but he gave PV a massive dose of steroids, and said, “If he doesn’t improve in three days, I’m not optimistic, because I have no clue what’s wrong with him. This is something totally new.”
Three days later, PV rallied, but it was touch and go for the next two weeks. He lived another 10 years and was finally taken by a brain tumor.
So don’t give up on the ol’ gal. And don’t give up on your own abilities to transfer your love and gumption to her. Surprising things happen when love and prayers are in the air!
PS: This IS Valentine’s Day, and if nothing else, it’s a hopeful day!
Very true!
Ron brought me a dozen pink roses. Awww....

Afternoon, all. Well, it’s almost dark here. I called my husband and found out he and Bill completed the Myrtle Beach Marathon successfully. I’m sure they’ll be very uncomfortable tomorrow, though!
And now it’s time for Vlad’s bath.
Awwww....
Good for Ron!!
And I second the emotion!
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
Have a great Heart-Shaped Day!
Have to do some significant restart of the cellphone to get rid of some bug that causes it to screech when I make or conclude a call -- even though it's on vibrate. I think one of the apps I installed might be misbehaving. But have to decide if I'm "here" enough to attempt same...
I sense a Restorative in the offing.
HOORAH for Bill and DP!
(I just got bawled out by a “friend” for emailing the Friday Silliness Thread and it’s “anti-Obama messages.” *sheesh* What a wet blanket!)
That’s OK. I found my own dozen roses at 50% off in Albertson’s, so I’m good to go! :oþ
Happy “heart I just ripped out of some dude” day.
Look it’s still warm...
/ bad joke.
You might want to wait to fix the Howler....
Do it when no one else is around....
;o]
Werkferme, Darks! I had the same feeling a few minutes ago. He didn’t even say “Happy VD.” Er...Valentine’s Day.
Nobody’s around. It’s underway. *\:^|
ARgh?!
At least Valentine’s didn’t land on the earlier part of th week this year.
Last year and the year before my dear sweet coworker felt it necessarry to call out with a tummy ache on Valentine’s.
I saved that. It was so good...
Is it howling at you and using it’s Outside Voice to berate you?
It won’t last. Just cover your ears and wait for it to self-destruct. It will be ashes as soon as the message is over.
