Transportation officials in Texas are scrambling to prevent hackers from changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, "Zombies Ahead."
Chris Lippincott, director of media relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, confirmed that a portable traffic sign at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin, was hacked into during the early hours of Jan. 19.
"It was clever, kind of cute, but not what it was intended for," said Lippincott, who saw the sign during his morning commute. "Those signs are deployed for a reason to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there's a road closure."
"It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," he told FOXNews.com.

Sometimes, they know the end is near for them, and they resort to different behavior to give their owners a chance to say “goodbye.”
I hate when they do that. They are looking for comfort, as, like humans, they aren’t sure what is happening, and want reassurance that’s it’s OK for them to leave you.
Catz rule!
*HUGS* to both of you!
Very sorry to hear your cat is failing. I hope she has a peaceful time.
nom-nom-nom
I don’t care for salami, myself, but Ash would eat it all in seconds.
Igor liked salami, but I don’t think I’ve bought any since 1989. ;o]
Happy Valentine’s Day!
You, too! I think DP and Bill started their marathon at 6:30 Eastern, about the time I was waking up to, “I did a puddle!” Since it was still dark, I changed the puddle, told Vlad it wasn’t daytime yet, and went back to bed with Wednesday.
Thanks, FRiends. ;-)
No thanks necessary. Hang in there, Girl. We’re all here for you.
*HUG*
LOL!
I didn’t wake up until almost 7:00, but then, I was reading from about 10:30 to almost 4:00. I went to sleep at 7:00 PM, but something woke me at 10:30, so I decided to read until I got sleepy. *sigh*
It was a strange book, but it was worth the read.
Time to try to deliver cookies to two addresses. If they’re home, we’ll be done with the neighborhood deliveries.
Then I’ll send Anoreth to Walmart for fried chicken.
Yummy!
Wal-Mart does make good fried chicken.
Lucky you. I've been up since 6 or so, after finally getting to bed around 1 AM. I am going to pay for this today...
And good morning!
Are you home?
And Happy Valentine’s Day to you and the sionnsareens!
Yes, they do. And fries, too. We never deep-fry anything at home!
No luck on the cookie deliveries, *and* it started raining again. Phooey. At least I’m not running a marathon!
Phooey is right! How dare the buyers not be home when cookies are to be delivered?
I hope the cookies have been paid for....
No, they pay on delivery. I’ll call them later or tomorrow.
The lady I gave all the Thin Mints to said she sold them all, but only one box of Sugar-Free Chocolate Chip!
She refused food again this morning, no matter what I tried. I even tempted her with a new dish of fish stew, with a nice broth. No joy.
She’s just layed there, almost unresponsive. She even let me cut some poo out of her fur under her tail, and let me brush her fur out.
She’s in the closet now. I guess she’s preparing herself, the way animals do.
Thin mints. Yah. Like that!
Poor kitty. Probably kidney failure.
