Transportation officials in Texas are scrambling to prevent hackers from changing messages on digital road signs after one sign in Austin was altered to read, "Zombies Ahead."
Chris Lippincott, director of media relations for the Texas Department of Transportation, confirmed that a portable traffic sign at Lamar Boulevard and West 15th Street, near the University of Texas at Austin, was hacked into during the early hours of Jan. 19.
"It was clever, kind of cute, but not what it was intended for," said Lippincott, who saw the sign during his morning commute. "Those signs are deployed for a reason to improve traffic conditions, let folks know there's a road closure."
"It's sort of amusing, but not at all helpful," he told FOXNews.com.

Kinda like a mink, but smells like baseball gloves.
Officially “Neatsfoot oil is a yellow oil rendered and purified from the feet (but not the hooves) and shin bones of cattle. It remains liquid down to a low temperature, and is used as a conditioning, softening and preservative agent for leather. In the 18th century, it was also used medically as a topical application for dry scaly skin conditions.”
Fascinating. I guess it sounds better than “cow-shin oil.”
Good morning. Not the count, but a list (this is the 46th UT):

Morning. Just above freezing here, pitch-black outside. At least I slept later than yesterday.
No Scripture Study class this morning so the sionnsareens get an extra hour of sleep; we hold our annual parish meeting after the service and I fully expect to be elected to the Vestry (board of directors) again, because I didn't refuse nomination.
I like my way better:

I agree, but I keep the list for other purposes.
"Another speculative fiction magazine folds: Realms of Fantasy is ceasing publication. This comes hot on the heels of the announcement that the venerable Fantasy and Science Fiction will be moving from a monthly to a bimonthly schedule, and underscores what a tough environment this is for science fiction and fantasy magazines, all of which have suffered declining circulation for quite some time. This is a real problem, since short fiction is generally where new writers cut their teeth, appearing in print alongside their more famous peers. Given that a one-year subscription costs less than the average video game, those with an interest in science fiction might want to consider buying subscriptions to Asimov's, Fantasy and Science Fiction, and Analog. (Those in the UK might want to add Interzone and/or Black Static and Postscripts as well.)"

‘Face present and accounted for, Sirs!
:looks around:
Whoa! Who let the Zombies out without the Dustbunnies?
I thought you did that ~ keeping track of things...slipping, aren’t ye?
Hi, you! How are you and Mrs. Freedumb?
Hey, y’all! We’re over here!
Happy February!
Where are the dustbunnies?
Hello! Have you seen the extra tablecloths? And James has lost his slippers.
How did I miss this thread? I must FReep more.
I missed it, too.
Have you looked in the aquarium?
The last time I used the tablecloths, I put them back where I found them. That would be in the cubby hole in the kitchen in Are We There, Yet?
Good luck. The spider bots seem to have tried to take over, there.
Hmmmmm. They’d be soggy and covered with moss, if that’s where they are.
I was asleep during the move - was it a rough jump?
Oh, dear. Maybe it’s time to buy some new ones!
I’ll loan you some of mine, but they are all round and crocheted....or square and embroidered.
Just let me know which ones you want!
