Food Stamps Will Stimulate the Economy More than Tax Cuts, Pelosi Says Wednesday, January 28, 2009 By Ryan Byrnes
(CNSNews.com) Food stamps and unemployment insurance will provide more economic stimulus than tax cuts, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday during a telephone press conference.
(F)ood stamps and unemployment insurance, which affect the people in the states, are necessary at this time when funds are short and the economy is down, (and) actually have the most stimulative effect on the economy, Pelosi said. Food stamps first, unemployment insurance next, infrastructure after that, and it goes on from there.
During the press conference, Pelosi laid out the contents of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which is expected to be passed in the House Wednesday. employment insurance have the most stimulative effect on the economy, and as a result are given the greatest priority in the stimulus package.
Actually, those investments bring a bigger return than the tax cuts, she said, adding: but tax cuts where we have them to the middle class we think will give us our biggest return.
The 20-minute news conference also included Govs. Edward Rendell (D-Pa.) and Jim Douglas (R-Vt.).
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will devote $20 billion to provide nutrition assistance to modest-income families and to lift restrictions that limit the amount of time individuals can receive food stamps, according to a summary of the plan released last week by the House Appropriations Committee.

Maybe we should just put all 300 million Americans under sedation -- everyone can just float along, without a care in the world, all our needs will be magically met and we will smile vacantly at the TV. That ought to get the economy humming in no time!

That's right you crazy bitch — feed, pay, house and subsidize the losers - and you get MORE losers..
The Left can't be that stupid....they are accomplishing exactly what they intended: A stupid and dependent electorate..
However - they overlooked the consequence of DESTROYING THE ECONOMY AND REPUBLIC..
It appears that soon - the “French Solution” to our political “aristocracy” will have to be applied.

will the lame scream media pick this up and ridicule her for this? Probably not. I think a Republican needs to parrot these words to expose the hypocrisy of the media.

Ah, so, according to Pelosi, food stamps, condoms, the sponge and “the pill” will stimulate our economy.

None of these people have any idea what they're doing. It's like being governed by teenagers. Lots of power, no mature intellect or reason directing it. Just whatever impulse strikes them from one moment to the next.

Is this a good time to start the “Atlas Shrugged” plan?
These weenie dictators we now have in office only have power if they have money.
Stopping our money from going into their pockets will put their communist shenanigans to a halt.
I am downsizing my life. If my family brings in less in income, less money will need to be given to the dictators.
Money and power are the only things they care about. If we take away one, they will lose the other.

"Food stamps and unemployment insurance will provide more economic stimulus than tax cuts,"
and make a whole new class of idiots that depend on the government for their very existence (if you can call living off the government existence).
This carbon unit is a traitor, no bones about it.

Folks, don't think she is totally mad.
With Food Stamps and Unemployment payouts expanding on many orders of magnitude over the past, it will BEHOLDEN a majority of Americans to the liberals.
This plan will purchase votes to keep the libs in power for the foreseeable future.
And look at her statement “...but tax cuts where we have them to the middle class we think will give us our biggest return.
Notice the “us”, statement? The “us” statement is the libs, and their “return” will be votes that will again keep them in power forever.

No, they aren’t overlooking it, they don’t care. They will get theirs, even in the USSR the rulers were rich. And a poorer, more dependent electorate is more controllable, less mobile, less threatening to government.

"... the people in the states," eh?
Come on, Nancy girl -- finish the thought: "People in the states of stuporous brain-dead subsistence and permanent government dependency," a.k.a. your core constituency.

This is nuts. All of a sudden, politicians all around the world have gone insane, simultaneously. Over here in Germany, politicians and journalists claim that tax cuts “benefit” only those with a job, so they’d rather make direct payments and especially raise welfare payments.
This is utterly idiotic for several reasons:
- A stimulus program is supposed to jumpstart the economy, not to “benefit” anyone, especially not any politician’s cronies or constituency.
- Sure, if you go and give every welfare bum more dollars so they can buy more contraceptives, beer and cigarettes, it will look good on the GDP. For one year. Then you’ve spent a trillion dollars, all the money is gone, and you’ll have to do put down another trillion dollars next year.
- You might argue that while money spent on contraceptives, beer and cigarettes is not exactly an investment that will produce future economic output, all the money paid for it will now be in the hands of the contraceptives, beer and tobacco industries, and they are going to invest it and produce future output. But that argument is flawed, too: After the welfare bums have filled all the condoms, drunk all the beer, and smoked all the cigarettes you bought for them, they will be broke again and the artificially increased demand for condoms, beer and cigarettes will be gone. All the new condom, beer and cigarettes factories will have nothing to do, and neither will those who produced the parts for those factories. So what you have now is a new recession, that will be even worse than the one you started with.
The reason that tax cuts, and, sorry, especially tax cuts for the rich, work so well is that the rich will invest their money where it generates new income instead of just throwing it out the window, there is no artificially increased demand that leads to malinvestments, and there is less incentive to move capital and production outside the country.
Not so long ago, everybody knew this. What happened?
