This show will air TODAY, Thursday, January 22 - at various times across the country.
Find the LOCAL TIME in YOUR area, and then add YOUR comments to this thread, as the show proceeds. Many of us were in the studio audience yesterday for the taping of this shoow, but we do not (yet) know how badly they chopped it up, if they did. But, thanks to the eagle eye of Matchett-PI, we know that they already have a PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT and some TEASER VIDEO posted on Dr. Phil's website (part 1 of 3):
Obama: Hope vs. RealityThe inauguration party is over. Whats next for this country? Dr. Phil and his esteemed guests discuss their thoughts about the new presidency and what to expect in the next four years. The Party's Over
Ann Coulter
Alan ColmesDr. Phil introduces some political opposites. From the right is controversial TV commentator, Ann Coulter. She is the author of seven books, including, Guilty: Liberal "Victims" and Their Assault on America. Joining the show from the left is Alan Colmes, one half of TVs Hannity and Colmes, and host of his own show on Fox News Radio.
Im not a political analyst. I dont get into all the ideologies of the two sides, Dr. Phil tells his guests. What Im interested in and the only reason I talk about this is I want to know what this means to the average person. Is Obama equal to these promises hes made, Ann?
I dont know, well see, she says. Since hes been elected, he has been talking a lot more like George Bush than he did during the campaign, and so he may well. And by the way, even though Alan and I disagree about a lot of things, thats why we care about public policies too, for how it affects real people. If Obama raises taxes, for example, as he claimed he was going to do throughout the campaign, that would throw us into the worst its the last thing you want to do in a recession. It would be an economic disaster. And then you know, after hes elected, two weeks later, hes saying, Oh, no, were not going to roll back the Bush tax cut. So if hes playing the Daily Kos kids and the New York Times editorial page for fools, were going to be a lot better off than I thought we were going to be, and that would affect real people.
So, you think what he had was a bunch of campaign rhetoric, but now hes going to pretty much moderate and get back to somewhere
Well, I hope so. That is my hope. Thats our theme: Hope, Ann says.
What do you think? Dr. Phil asks Alan.
Im happy to see Ann come a little over to my side. This is very exciting, he jokes. Look, this is a guy who obviously reacts to changing conditions. The fact that hes not necessarily sticking to what he said ideologically during the campaign, it would be nice to have a president who actually reacts to changing conditions and isnt stuck in some ideological box, like weve had for the last eight years, so I think this is great. This in and of itself is a great change.
The change is hes not trying to win the Primary anymore, Ann retorts...

I"m not a big fan of Colter, she is a bit too opinionated for me.However, she gets it when it comes to the single mother syndrome that the media and everyone buys into.
I've was a single father for 5 years. I called myself a single father. But it's not because I expect anything for it. It's just what it is. However, mention you are a single mom, or collecting for a single mom and all you hear is pity.
In my state, Washington, Women request divorce almost 2 to 1 over men. They are also awarded custody of their children in 85% of the divorces, and in 93% of the divorces, the non-custodial parent (mostly single fathers - get the idea here!) gets access to his/her children 4 or less days a month.
The term single mom sickens me, because in most cases it is choice, and when they need financial assistance, or other, it is by choice as well.
As an example, my former wife - err, single mom, actually had the schools trying to collect money to take the kids to the doctor, because she was a single, unemployed mother. Never mind that she was getting over $1,700 a month in child support, and the kids were covered by my insurance plan which was incredible. Yet, she was playing the single mom card to get whatever she could get.
Please followup with this show, please interview Ms. Colter and get the facts that she did eloquently share with your audience. Take the position of the kids, and not the women on this story, please! You can actually start to bring about change to the things that are so destructive to families as she did mention so well.

Just interested in knowing if Ann Coulter has been or is a single parent?Just in case the answer is no, I would be interested to hear her researched facts about single motherhood and the path to glory that its offspring tread.
Has she also given due diligence to single mothers who have raised honest, forthright, law-abiding offspring? I am proud to be born an American and live in a country where we are ALL allowed to speak, record, publish and in most all other respects, give our view of life as we see it. I would not deny that privilege to anyone.
Unfortunately, I only caught the last few minutes of this show and Coulter's blanket remarks about single motherhood were offensive to my sensibilities.
I take umbrage at her disparaging someone like me, attempting to wrap all single mothers in the blanket of society's ills. As with everything in life, you only get back what you put into it. That includes parenting. I have raised my child to the best of my abilities and feel pretty good about the results.
I do not assume that all blondes are dumb just because it has been repeatedly said by many. This may be a fact but I will need to put good unbiased research into it before I stand up and make such a pronouncement. A word to Ann: Be careful what you say. Karma really is a bitch.
Well, I guess if Motley Fool’s David Gardner was part of the show, actually sat right next to Ann, and answered some of Dr. Phil’s questions, I thought a comment might be in order.
I’ll go have my cognitive dissonance checked by Dr. Phil.
Hey, guy....just saw you in the audience on the Dr. Phil show. Lookin’ good there, friend!
Just interested in knowing if Ann Coulter has been or is a single parent? This is the same line of attack Whoppi tied to use on "The View."
Are they equally concerned that all of the "anti-war" protesters are combat veterans?
You don't have to be a CHICKEN, to know a ROTTEN EGG. :o)
Take the position of the kids, and not the women on this story, please!Bingo!
Those are cool pics.
Did you take those?
Something bad did happen to her. She grew up poor and ignorant and now lives in a trailer, unable to express herself coherently. Worse, she seems to think that this is okay--she even expresses pride in her status--which means she has no hope of bettering herself. By her own admission, her mother is a loser, which suggests a poor relationship. Yes, something bad did happen to her. Whatever intelligence, talent, and ability she might have given to the world has been shrouded by her status.
Thanks for letting me know!
Our family has to agree with your post 110%.
