Maj just got the word, on Shep Smith show, scheduled to be announced tomorrow. All combat brigades to be out in 16 months.
Real effect is immediate surrender of purpose. No commander is going to undertake any major mission knowing that, at the very longest, no US offensive military power will be in-country after next Spring, so why waste lives to gain something we soon will give away.
Offensive operations will stop. Brigades will go into a useless, purely defensive mode. It's over. Our POTUS surrendered.
About 3000 Americans volunteered to pay the ultimate price in Iraq so we could be free. Obama just ensured those sacrifices will have no lasting meaning.
Bush prayed for every one of them and their souls. Obama just pissed on every one of their graves.

The problem is with Obama in charge- the type of officers promoted to the top immediately will be the political zombies, and they will promote the political zombies and so on. With leadership sorry from the very top down it will be extremely difficult for the decent troops to perform their job and out of sheer day to day frustration with the lack of effective leadership and the cost cuts and downsizing the dims are famous for. When the good troops feel their being there no longer makes a difference or is appreciated they leave. We cannot expect them to do otherwise.

My hubby did 2 tours, my son 1....luckily they both came back safe but we lost 4 years as a family...4 years we gladly gave to this fight in Iraq...but now I feel it was all wasted..4 years we will never get back......my only thought is of those families who paid a higher price...I can’t imagine what they are thinking now......God help us and God help the people of Iraq...tears

Some troops will be left...it’s time for Iraq to shoulder some responsibility...Afghanistan is a must...we are losing Afghanistan and probably Pakistan as well. This is very similar to the agreement brokered with the Iraqis by Bush...the poster who said Bush won, but Obama will get credit is correct. We have to deal with Afghanistan and Iran and soon.
Not exactly, they worked for the Saddamn regime. One was a money launderer who stole from the Food for Oil funds and the other convicted on corruption charges related to the rebuilding of the electrical grid in Iraq. These are very dangerous men who will try to oppress the Iraqi people.
