That’s another important thing to keep in mind. For some it’s a way to make living.
The term “race hustling poverty pimp” was used to describe someone who I don’t recall right now.
"if you was white, should be all right,
If you was brown, stick around,
But as you's black, hmm brother, get back, get back, get back"
So he makes "back" refer to the back of the bus and segregation.
"Brown", who could still stick around in the song, now refers not to light-skinned Blacks but to Latins, who can stick around in the country.
"Yellow," for Asians, is thrown in by Lowery. I don't know how they should take that "mellow" bit. Does "mellow" mean not stressed out by other people or not being so uptight oneself?
I'd say on the whole it was a little embarrassing. The same point could have been made in more general terms without singling out each race.
Knowing what is right is easy, doing what is right is hard. Considering the percent of the total population and the majority ethnicity of those incarcerated in this country clearly invalidates this preacher's point. He sounds like a racist to me but I know he can't be. If he was a racist BO wouldn't have had him speak at his coronation. Snark!
With all due respect to the Reverend Lowery, when you or I or anyone else has to answer for what we did in our life on Judgement Day, the Lord does not ask for our skin color!!!!!!/Just Asking - seoul62......
I couldn’t listen to the whole poem; it was just too awful. Our department’s secretary forced herself to listen, and at one point howled “OMG! She just tried to rhyme “let us” with “edifice”!” (at least I think it was “let us” and not “lettuce”, but I’m not sure . . . ). Lowery gets the rhyming prize for the day.
It just might work. I've plumb run completely out of tolerance for these race-baiting turds, and I sure well know which certain ethnic grouping contains 95% stupid morons who were idiot enough to vote for more of it.
If that's what they want, let the games begin.

Am I the only one who knew what to expect? I mean, THEY elected a man based solely ON THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN, and I KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THAT SKIN COLOR. There is no surprise here, and more is coming. This is mild.

For we know that, Lord, you are able and you're willing to work through faithful leadership to restore stability, mend our brokenness, heal our wounds, and deliver us from the exploitation of the poor, of the least of these, and from favoritism toward the rich, the elite of these.Personally, I think I have already spent most of my life being exploited BY the poor (and their agents), when I consider how much of my tax bill goes to "social services".
Looks like Rev Lowery got off the bus about half a century ago.

You can do it Rev. Now when the door opens, put your foot on the step, grab the side bar, and lift yourself up. Good. Now, drop the token in. Good. Now, turn to your left, and take the first seat available. See how easy that was?
It is OK to not feel hatred to those who hate you.
But it is utter foolishness to give your enemy the gift of a sword.
It means that Asians should accept being discriminated against, and counted as worse than white at Affirmative Action quota time.
