CAROLINE THE 'CERTAIN' PICK FOR DAVE: RIVALS
The New York Post ^ | 01/19/2009 | Frederic U. Dicker

DESPITE claims that he's still undecided, Gov. Paterson is "certain" to pick Caroline Kennedy to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton in the US Senate, several unhappy contenders for the job have told friends and associates in recent days.

The contenders based their conclusion on the view that Paterson, after nearly two months of indecision, would "greatly embarrass" and "entirely humiliate" Kennedy, anger her prominent political family and even offend President-elect Barack Obama by picking someone other than President John F. Kennedy's daughter.

As for the governor's claim to be weighing a last-minute finalist, the contenders agree with a close Paterson friend who said, "It's clear David is just trying to play mind games with the press."

Some of the contenders warned, however, that the unelected Paterson, who must face the voters next year, could face a serious backlash from Democratic activists by choosing Kennedy, whose standing with the public, and with Democrats in particular, has been sliding in recent weeks.

US Rep. Carolyn Maloney of Manhattan, a would-be Clinton replacement who is backed by several women's organizations, was the most publicly adamant in saying the fix was in, citing a scenario - first outlined in last week's Village Voice - under which Paterson, in a deal with Mayor Bloomberg, a Kennedy friend, selects Kennedy in exchange for help for his own election bid next year.

Another potential candidate told The Post that he was convinced that Kennedy would get the job because Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, - who polls show is the public's favorite to succeed Clinton - failed to line up the right replacement at the AG's office.

I think she will be a bad choice, even worse than Hillary ever was.

Someday, New Yorkers may actually get to elect a senator that doesn’t represent just New York City and the uber-left.

IF Kennedy was appointed and seated to replace Hitlary, what would happen if, a month or two down the road, Hitlary was forced to resign due to a scandal? Would she be able to get her seat back? This is what I believe will happen. A terse political move to rid the messiah of Hitlary and Bitlary.

Maybe. Last one was Fiorello LaGuardia.

Ah, the completion of the dhimicrattic - “Only bimbos will do for our female members” policy.

She’ll do well with Pelosi and the rest of the women who married their money and position.

Heh!

Are you sure that the political left won’t do away with the idea of even having elections?

This is how it is done in the Kennedy clan...Our blind governor (who has yet to be elected) will be tapped by Obama for “something”. The question is “when”.

Well, if he does appoint her, she will be thoroughly humiliated when she is thrown out of office in two years, based upon her non-existent public speaking and campaigning skills. Moreover, she has the charisma of a dead cat.

The accidental governor is caught. He knows that Cuomo is going to be his opponent for re-election. His only hope is that the One really does come to campaign for him as the princess promised.

How do you like it NY? A Kennedy choosing your senator!

Hillary would have to run in an election to get her senate seat back.
And boy don’t ya know that would be entertaining seeing Mrs. Clinton chewing up and spitting out the kennedy stupid.

The primary campaign in two years should be fun to watch. Don’t rule out a Republican winning the seat in the general election.

There are several “deals” involved in this...a sort of dance of the bulls episode.

First, Hillary got offered the seat of Secretary of State because Obama needs Senator Caroline Kennedy in position to take the VP role in 2012 as Biden retires. Biden’s son is the pumped-up guy in Delaware in twelve months as the party there ensure his position to permanently replace ‘dad’.

Somewhere in the midst of this...Hillary promises to stay only three years, and then likely gets picked as a ambassador for either Germany or the UK.

Caroline’s job is to make a few speeches and assume the presidency in 2016...and carry it for eight more years.

Various senators have been pulled for jobs in this administration....in order to bring a short-term name to the White House...but also to get the new hot senate property in position for their individual state.

I think you’re on to something, and have said before myself on this forum that I think that Uncle Teddy is greasing her skids to become Obama’s successor in 2016.

No, it never will. I say that because free elections are now pretty much things of the past, what with all the fraud and corruption in the election process by the Democrats and their water carriers (MSM, ACORN, crooked SOSs, etc.). New York State will never again elect a Republican to a U.S. Senate seat, much less a conservative.
