More lasts today
This morning President & Mrs. Bush departed the White House for Camp David, Maryland, where they will spend their last weekend as the First Couple before Tuesdays inauguration.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her final press conference today at the State Department in Washington. She also met with Israels Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. Dr. Rices last official act as Secretary of State was signing a memorandum with Foreign Minister Livni that will help prevent arms smuggling to terrorists in Gaza.
And today Press Secretary Dana Perino delivered the Administrations final press briefing (Transcript). Dana took time to pay tribute to her predecessor Tony Snow and to all the members of the White House press staff. But one name was conspicuously absent from her remarks.
Q Dana, you mentioned Ari and Tony, but I don't think I heard you mention Scott. Was that a slight or was that -- was anything deliberate --Dana: No harm meant, I just didn't mention him.
What did you think of his comments [on MSNBC] last night?
Dana: I didn't bother watching them.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
Agreed. I love Cavuto. Even if he does look like Eddie Munster all grown up.
“America is strong enough to surivive it.”
I pray you are right.
I'm thinking about Gretchen ... I saved the FR mail she sent me when she asked if I would like to host the Dose. I said yes immediately--I believe my exact reply was "YES!!" I was honored that she would ask me. And I'll always be honored to have been associated with this thread and with the friends I was blessed to find here.
We've lost friends here too.
Texasflower.
Kayak.
And then Gretchen.
The Dose wasn't the same for me after she died. I can't speak for the others, but I'm sure they feel same way.
I could fill pages talking about how much I admire Snugs, Wolfstar, Kaslin, Daisyscarlett, Starwise and all the other hosts. I think there have been somewhere around 15 people who have hosted this thread over the past 8 years. Some of them were before my time. It's amazing that this thread has not only survived so many changes, but has remained an island of sanity on this forum.
It's been a privilege to represent my President, his family and his administration. As many have said, we will never see his like again.
God bless you, President Bush.
And thank you.
Ready for more pictures! Yay!
You just brought tears. I hope you will be around when we
do special threads about “The After Years”. Otherwise, I
wouldn’t know where to find you!
This is TOO sad!
God rest the souls of the ones that we miss.
Thank you, Jonny.
I am honored to win the last one you posted.

No, he won’t. Once he gets back home here in Texas, he is
amongst friends. I think he is really looking forward to it.
The DC rat-race has to have been very disheartening to a
man like our President!
That makes all kinds of perfect choice/fitting choice sense!
:)
