Passengers are rescued from the plane's wings
A US airliner on a domestic flight with at least 152 people aboard has crashed into the Hudson River in New York City but with no loss of life.
All 148 passengers and the crew of at least four were rescued from the sinking plane, with some suffering injuries on impact.
The US Airways Airbus A320 crashed just after taking off from LaGuardia Airport heading for Charlotte, North Carolina.
Officials believe the plane may have collided with a flock of geese.
"There is no indication that the incident is security-related," a homeland security official told the BBC.
Rescue boats plucked passengers, who could be seen wearing life jackets, from the wings of the plane on a day which saw sub-zero temperatures in the city.
The BBC's Greg Wood, in New York, says the plane was drifting rapidly down the Hudson as the rescue was carried out.

Great post Uncle Ernie...
So he had to clear the GW Bridge...and park it above the Lincoln tunnel....Good Plan!
Assuming he was heading downstream.
Foxnews O’Reilly is having a segment with interviews on the crash...covering the rescue effort.
Thanks for the heads-up on the Fox coverage. And yes, the plane went in from north to south, just over the GW Bridge at 172nd street. Landed around 48th St, about 2 blocks from where the Intrepid is docked.
They are about to have a passenger survivor on to interview.....
Happy to see no one received serious injuries or worse. A mostly happy ending. Perhaps all their luggage will even be able to be retrieved.
Temp there tonight going to -15 degrees...not sure what it was when this happened...Fox is covering the rescue big time.
Prayers for the dead!
It was a miracle,...no one died....heard a flight attendant may have broken a leg however.
A woman answered and hung up when the AP asked to speak with Sullenberger's family in Danville.
Here come the voyeuristic MSM and their voyeuristic audience, including many peeping toms here. The public's right to know. Let's examine what videos the pilot might have rented in the past. Let's inquire about the children's grades. The family tax records. Etc, etc... Sickening!
Some of the idiots yhat call themselves reporters call every plane that crashes either a Cessna or a Piper!
I wonder if he knew the Ferry Site was nearby?

I suspect so.. A good pilot knows the lay of the land like the back of his hand.. he was trying for a small airstrip with a long runway used by corporate jets and such. almost made it..
damn fine job , any way you cut it.
Save the cases of booze of course.
Yup!
Keeping that gear up saved those peoples lives!
It just kinda kayaked in!
