Ricardo Montalban, the suave leading man who was one of the first Mexican-born actors to make it big in Hollywood and who was best known for his role as Mr. Roarke on ABC's "Fantasy Island," has died. He was 88.

Riccardo was one of the commentators. What a classy man. He was also one of the last living links to the Golden Age still alive.
One of MGM's greatest hits was "Ben Hur" starring Charleton Heston, also a conservative.
I picture each of these memorable stars being lifted skyward in golden chariots. Hollywood can never duplicate those golden years of "more stars than there are in heaven."
Riccardo was a good man who provided us with fine entertainment during his career. I'll miss him.
Rest in peace, amigo mio.

Corinthian leather was a phrase invented for marketing use to describe the leather used in certain Chrysler luxury cars in the 1970s. In this case, “Corinthian” does not actually indicate any relationship with Corinth, nor any specific type of leather and was added simply as a linguistic cachet.
The first use of this term was to describe the leather in the 1974 Chrysler Imperial, but the best known use of this term is from the advertising campaign for the 1976 Chrysler Cordoba, featuring celebrity spokesman Ricardo Montalbán.[1]
Although many misquote Montalbán as saying “rich Corinthian leather” or “fine Corinthian leather” in the commercial, he actually says that “soft Corinthian leather” is an available upholstery option for the car.[1]
Corinthian leather is a marketing term that does not actually indicate any particular type of leather. Montalbán confirmed this during an interview with David Letterman, admitting that Corinthian leather means “nothing.” According to one reference[who?], Chrysler’s “Corinthian” leather was mass produced in a plant in Newark, New Jersey.
I've been in lion heaven watching generous clips of all the great stars of the Golden Age of Movies. I can't think of one "star" today that has the aura of the leading actors and actresses of the thirties and forties.
I'm happy you caught tonight's showing and enjoyed it like I did.

Hey if I didn’t post it somebody would LOL!
I knew Ricardo Montalban was very old by now and I was expecting to hear news like this one day or another.
I feel bad. He was a great actor and a good person from all accounts.
There really isn’t another actor who can play his roles as well. Antonio Banderas and other latinos are just wannabe Montalbans.
Thank you, Seven. You're a perfect 10 tonight!

I’m still on an Abe Vigoda death watch. Once he goes, an era is really over. Hope he makes it to 120.
No problem MG
I knew it going be on because I think they probably rerun in month of April this same docuemtnary actually MGM was founded they say in April this year would be 85th anniversry founding of MGM
Yeah! Me!
Although I have been unable to find any videos, I also remember him as the spokeman for the Chrysler “Crystal Key” Program. A type of club or special service plan I believe.
A great actor who will be missed. I will have to fire up Star Trek II and pay my respects.
And Clint Eastwood we are fast losing all old school movie actors
Going back to Abe last time I hear he was in good health
