Obama not ruling out prosecution of Bush officials for crimes in office Jan 11 09:09 AM US/Eastern US President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday he was not ruling out possible prosecution for abuses committed under the George Bush administration, saying no one "is above the law".
"We're still evaluating how we're going to approach the whole issue of interrogations, detentions, and so forth," Obama said in an interview aired Sunday on ABC's This Week program when asked about alleged abuses under Bush.
"Obviously we're going to be looking at past practices and I don't believe that anybody is above the law," Obama said.
But Obama, who takes office on January 20, added that he wanted his administration to focus on tackling problems moving forward, rather than reviewing policies under his predecessor.
"My instinct is for us to focus on how do we make sure that moving forward we are doing the right thing," he said.
"That doesn't mean that if somebody has blatantly broken the law, that they are above the law. But my orientation's going to be to move forward."

Nothing to do with the story, but I was shocked to learn that Andrew Breitbart is Orson Beans’ son-in-law.
Never could have imagined...
sounds to me like he is telling Bush up front that he had better make some serious blanket pardons.
I heard on the radio that Obama might go after whoever was responsible for holding some terrorist’s head under water (around five years ago), which ended up saving thousands of lives.
I wish I had more details.
Obama will put the terrorists “rights” before American lives.
Clearly a non-committal response in hope of keeping the frothing communists distracted. It worked for Nancy in San Fran. I somehow doubt that pre-election rhetoric is high on 0’s current to-do list.
IMHO - it’s more about keeping people in the Bush administration quiet, and not making waves or looking under the rocks to expose the O’bummer crew for what they really are....
What.
Obama’s going to prosecute Border Agents perhaps?
President Bush really.
PARDON AGENTS RAMOS AND CAMPEON.
I doubt even Bambi is foolish enough to go along with the leftist wet dream of prosecuting members of the Bush Administration for “war crimes”.
that smirk on his face. he thinks he’s above the law.
> “That doesn’t mean that if somebody has blatantly broken the law, that they are above the law. But my orientation’s going to be to move forward.”
That one could come back to haunt him. He may want to consider carefully whether he really wants to be held to that same standard in four years time. He probably has more skeletons in his closet and dirty secrets that he’d prefer kept out of the public eye than any of the Bush officials do.
While no admirerer of Bush, I can see any "trials" of him, or his administration, for actions taken the last eight (was that all it was?) in office, as just the spark needed for some good old house cleaning.
and if you cant pardon them at least commute their prison term
Same thing as the Clintons threatening people.
Only happens in banana republics and O’bamas USA.
I do!
Nobody is above the law? Why can’t Barack Obama/ Barry Soetero. or whatever his name is, prove where he was born as required by the U.S. Consitution?
Zero is keeping his options open. So are 50 million Americans. Your move, skinny.
I'm sorry to pee on the left's BDS parade, but it's not going to happen.
Then again, I lied, I'm not sorry.
