WASHINGTON (Legal Newsline)-All of the nation's state attorneys general have signed onto a brief to include references to God in President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration this month.
Authored by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, the amicus brief was filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in the case of atheist Michael Newdow v. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
Newdow, a Sacramento physician, seeks to eliminate prayer from the ceremony and prevent Obama from being able to say "so help me God" in the presidential oath of office.

Q: What is the nature of sin?
Obama: Anything that is out of line with my values.
By the same logic, does that mean that the amount of time skeptics take to prove that ESP, Bigfoot, UFOs, astral projection, perpetual motion and ghosts don't exist is evidence that they believe in these things and that they actually do exist?
Indeed. The truth shall set you free.
How many lawsuits have been filed by UFO and Bigfoot skeptics?
As I pointed out earlier, no one is filing lawsuits to remove astrological symbols from public buildings because:
1) They may not even be there in the first place
2) Even if they are on public buildings, they're pseudoscientific in nature, not religous.
The same would apply to UFOs and Bigfoot.
The relevant question is how many lawsuits have been filed to remove the Roman goddess Justice from Government buildings.
Good point. When is Newdow going to protest the goddess Justice?
A quick bit of googling found this:

There are probably others.
You've established that there is probably more than 1 lawsuit related to Roman goddesses.
Do you think that even registers on the magnitude of what this country has seen related to the Ten Commandments, Nativity scenes, “under God”, etc.?
Do you think that even registers on the magnitude of what this country has seen related to the Ten Commandments, Nativity scenes, under God, etc.?
Nope, it's a drop in the proverbial bucket. I was asked how many such lawsuits had been filed, and I answered to the best of my ability.
Normally I’d be with you, but I wanted to point out that Obama wasn’t the one who filed the lawsuit. It’s this Newdow *******, not The One.
He’s too smart to show his anti-Christianity, and knows his lame duck phase will start when it is revealed that he truly does not have Christ in his heart.
Two observations:
I see an increasing number of comparisons between Comrade 0bama and King Herod, and the fact is, 0bama has even MORE innocent blood on his hands than Herod, due to his unconditional and unqualified support for abortion on demand.
The other observation?
I believe that one day, when Michael Newdow has exhausted the patience of the Almighty, that one day we’ll see a mysterious news item about ‘Michael Newdow’s pathetic greasy ass inexplicably snuffed out in sudden lightning flash and smoke’, and while everyone wonders what happened, WE’LL know exactly what happened.
God is not mocked.
LET THE LAD WHO WOULD BE KING DECIDE. It's his party, right?
In so doing, he reveals who and what he is. If he is a bona fide Christian, a true believer, then “it is well with my soul.”
If he is a fake and a liar, then it will be for He whose work it is to judge him to settle the matter.
So . . . whaddaya say, 0? Are YOU inviting God to your party or not? Well? Well? Well? Huh? Huh? Are you? Huh?
“By the same logic, does that mean that the amount of time skeptics take to prove that ESP, Bigfoot, UFOs, astral projection, perpetual motion and ghosts don't exist is evidence that they believe in these things and that they actually do exist?”
No.
My point was focused on his God-given conscience and the fact that he chooses to make an issue of removing everything in our nation that is connected to our Judeo-Christian heritage. He has an obvious hostility towards anything Christian in public life and if it's all a bunch of nonsense why make an issue of it? Newdow doesn't have an issue with the other subjects you mentioned, and you must admit, symbolism of other religions are rarely if ever targeted by these lawsuits.
(It is also interesting that he doesn't go after say...Islam... which is being promoted in some public school curriculum.)
Why is it always Christianity that is most vile in his eyes? It is an offense to him as the Bible says the cross is to the unbelieving 1 Cor. 1:18, which explains Newdow’s hostility toward it.
Maybe we shouldn’t I think it is an insult to the Lord.
Thanks! Just as an aside, how do I add a signature line to my name at the bottom of a post? I poked around the site, but I couldn't find anything.

No.
Why not? You said:
"If God truly doesn't exist they would put Him in the category of Mickey Mouse or Santa Claus and the Cross would simply be the letter t to them. Why fight if you really believe that?"
If it read:
"If telepathy truly doesn't exist they would put it in the category of Mickey Mouse or Santa Claus and ESP would simply be three letters to them. Why fight if you really believe that?"
It's exactly the same logic.
My point was focused on his God-given
Debatable. We obviously have different assumptions underlining our worldviews.

To be fair, the other subjects (ESP, UFOs, etc.) aren't on our money or in our Pledge. Also, I checkout out Newdow's Wikipedia page. It mentioned 4 lawsuits: to remove "under God" from the Pledge, to remove "In God We Trust" from the currency, removing "So help me God" from Obama's oath, and removing religious references from California's school textbooks. 3 of his 4 lawsuits are against a mention of "God", which is about as generic as mention of a deity as you can get, and a textbook case where he's trying to remove religious references.
and you must admit, symbolism of other religions are rarely if ever targeted by these lawsuits.
Given that Christianity is the dominant religion in this country, that's not surprising.
(It is also interesting that he doesn't go after say...Islam... which is being promoted in some public school curriculum.)
While his school textbook lawsuit primarily concerns Christian references, it does mention Islam. Always give credit where it's due...
Why is it always Christianity that is most vile in his eyes?
I would guess that as a church-state separation absolutist, the religion he comes up against the most is Christianity. As I said, not surprising given its national dominance. Were he in Iran, he'd probably go up against Islam....and then get stoned to death.
That is it in a nutshell.
Michael Newdow hates America and will play any game (even the destruction of the Constitution by way of liberal judges) to destroy the America our fathers gave us.
His methods match the ACLU and other criminals who could not use the rule of law and the vote, nor the amendment process to impose their progressive Constitutional revisions.
The intentional, preplanned, criminal methodology of all those who have used the courts as an illegal lawmaking, revolutionary, anti-Christian, progressive weapon to destroy the preexisting Judeo Chistian culture and replace it with a leftist, anti-Bible culture of secular Europe is undeniable and impossible to miss.
Yet, you will still find snakes in the grass on Free Republic who love the illegal, judicial activist Constitutional revisions of the left, while claiming to be great defenders of the Constitution.
I also see the logic of your argument, and you're right I think it's a differing worldview issue.
P.S. O.K I'm waiting to see your tag. (Whenever you want to change it just erase the previous one and type a new one.)
