Two of the grocery stores in my area are now labeling hamburger coming from ... Canada/USA/Mexico. I asked the young man loading the shelves, how was this done. He said that if one area runs out of hamburger then they get it from one or the other two ‘states’. I said to him, these are not ‘states’ they are ‘countries’.... he looked dumbfounded.

This was not the cheap fat filled hamburger this was ‘black Angus’ almost four dollars a pound 93/7 grade hamburger.

asked for antibiotics made in the US...

Guess where most "US made" drugs are really made? The Caribbean, Ireland and Israel.

Oh, I get that . . . I’m simply asking at what point does it no longer become practical to label something?

Victims of the outbreak range in age from less than 1 year to 103.

The only common denominator I can see is that neither a 1 year old nor a 103 year old have teeth so it was probably contracted from something they drank.....

Salmonella? Outbreak in 42 states? That’s a lot of illegal alien poop! Mountains, in fact.

100 acres of lettuce or green onions in California contaminated with Salmonella and shipped to China Marts throughout the country would do it.

Sadly, I’m just getting informed......and realizing how hard ‘some’ work to obfuscate information .

NBC’S Chris Hansen did a frightening expose——he answered a US ad for cheap wholesale drugs.

He followed through-—to China-—where enterpreneurs actually mfg pills that look real and are bottled and labeled like the real thing——but are nothing but fakes.

The Chinese enterpreneurs were making millions of dollars doing this.

No, it wouldn't. You'd have to have a significant number of illegal Mexicans doing nothing but pooping to cause that sort of an impact.

That's the problem with the "illegal pooping in the fields" canard: the scale of the outbreak indicates a systemic problem somewhere along the chain. It would be more accurate to claim that Mexicans are pooping into our distribution equipment. (Just that the image of a Mexican pooping into a piece of equipment doesn't garner the same emotional reaction).

Noticed this a couple months ago at my local supermarket (actually a large chain..Publix)

I was quite irate and talked to 3 different managers...

..the story they gave me was a bit different than yours, but they were all fumbling with it.

I said I would not buy anything labeled as such.

One of the managers said their 'Greenwise' stamped products were USA made.

But the other day when I questioned a manager if the Greenwise ground round was indeed made in the USA, his answer was....'as far as I know'....

Folks we're being bulldozed....have been bulldozed....and will continue to be bulldozed until we do something about it!

THIS is Clinton's AND Bush's legacy to us!

Didn't know about the Caribbean, Ireland part....did know about the Israel part.

There are some countries a bit more equal than others, IMO that I won't squabble with....Israel being one.

But China, Mexico....Canada....NO.

How about apple sauce or baby food? Lots of elderly eat baby food.

Gee, it gets pooped on in one state then distributed to 42 states. How confusing is THAT?

Good point...

I would be seriously checking where our baby food is manufactured!

Surely after the animal poisonings, parents aren't just glibly feeding their children things out of jars and not checking where the origin is from.

How confusing is THAT?

Not confusing at all. Rather, it is nonsense.

Thanks Liz....

I remember several years back when Meryl Streep had a hissy fit because apples were treated with Alar...(I wasn't impressed with her hysterics)

With her billions I doubt she has to worry where her foods originate...

.. but those of us in flyover country need to get as hysterical now over what is REALLY happening to our foods and medicines!

I would not lay all the blame at their feet, Congress was in on approving this 'trade' business. I also heard from another person at a 'meat' market that this Christmas 'tenderloins' were at the cheapest level he had seen in many years. Could be that there is a 'beef' bubble out there with the market being flooded with cheap Canadian and Mexican beef.

All of these fields are artificially irrigated. One need only contaminate the irrigation source. A much more likely source for Salmonella than human is contamination with animal waste. Swine and poultry are the most likely sources.

It isn’t nonsense at all. You contaminate a bunch of tomatoes, those tomatoes then get placed into a larger container of tomatoes, contaminating even more tomatoes. Then they get placed into even larger containers for shipment and later distribution.

We already KNOW it happens. That is what happened the last time, with the tomatoes and peppers.

That's what I'm saying: a systemic problem. Just like with the California spinach . . . runoff polluted by livestock.

I'm not saying that it's impossible to get sick from an illegal pooping in a field somewhere, just that the scale of the outbreak essentially eliminates it as a possibility here.
