Pelosi Erases Gingrich's Long-Standing Fairness Rules

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to re-write House rules today to ensure that the Republican minority is unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosis proposals are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.
Pelosis rule changes -- which may be voted on today -- will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrichs Contract with America.
In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America.

Had Newt been as merciless as that Pelosi b-—h, the Repubs might still have a majority in Congress. Instead, she will re-write history to speak of Newt taking out a “Contract ON America”!

That 9 percent means that 91 percent of the American people did not know that Democrats were in “control” of Congress. It’s all about the ignorance of the American people.

What thought of bipartisanship? I doubt that Pelosi did this without first getting approval from The Glorious Leader. I have a hunch that it's the other way around. I think Barry will toe San Fran Nan's line if he knows what's good for him.
That nasty woman is due for a comeuppance and it can't happen soon enough.

Why is that the Dems can just rewrite anything every time they dont like something, but can also stymie the Republicans at every turn with parliamentary procedures? Because the Wepublicants have been afraid they will hurt their good friend DEM's feelings. Did anyone ever think they would see the day a GOP POTUS would be controlled by Barney Frank? That right here is the problem in one word the GOP is mainly WIMPS!!!!!! The rest get called nutjobs even by the Lamestream Wepublicant dictators.

THAT is why talk of a REPUBLICAN filibuster in the Senate will prove to be a joke. How long will it take DEMOCRATS to scrap the “gang o 14” agreement on allowing filibusters?
THE DEMOCRATS WILL USE the so-called “nuclear” option that the Republican’ts only threatened.

Wrong model.
Within months of Hitler’s election, all opposition parties were declared illegal.
How would Republicans in Pelosi’s Progressive People’s Congress block this, hmmmm?

The audacity - but you know that this was discussed with the chosen one already.
They better be damn careful how they cover their tracks. When the sheeple get wind of the fact that they have been hoodwinked and lied to they will eat their own just like code pink has started.
The republican party is doomed now. But a new, stronger conservative party will emerge from the ashes like a phoenix.

There will be no serious RINO challenge to this blatent Pelosi attempt to eliminate any opposition to the demrat objective—the Stalinization of America.
The GOP has morphed into just another arm of the demrat party. It ought to admit that by formally announcing same and be done with it.
Those who continue their innane assertion that the GOP is an opposition party must believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus.
Wake up folks! Get off the GOP train. It will only take you to the Socialist States of America station.

Pelosi is a piece of sh*t.

I could see a sizaeble number of republicans switching parties in order to be able to affect legislation. With a large number of Republican switches, the conservative blue dog Dems would have enough numbers to challenge Pelosis leadership.
Many talk radio hosts (Medved for starters) say there never can be a third party and win anything and of course I remember throwing my once-in-a-life-time vote for the sucking sound guy (so yes, I helped put Baba Klintoon in office). But, Lieberman is an independent, Sanders is a Socialist, and yet they caucus with RATS which gave the RATS the control of the Senate. Why can't conservatives start a third party and promise to caucus with the GOP? Couldn't that regain control of the Senate? Couldn't some of the Blue Dog RATS caucus with GOP? I guess I am naive, or don't understand how it works in DC (I suspect the latter).

As long as there is one Republican left in the Congress, all the bad legislation by the democrats will be blamed on the Republican(s). It'll be interesting to see what happens with Supreme Court nominees... Ruth Bader Ginsburg could end up being the most conservative member of that undistinguished body.

I’ll take it one more step as not only are liberals fascist tyrants they are also mentally ill.

Gee CAL, I was just thinking about you and bingo, there you are posting a thread.
Somebody suggested that the Republicans should simply go home if this passes. I think that is an excellent idea. It would get America's attention. So I'm writing to my friend, Shelly Capito, and putting a bug in her ear to pass along to her collegues. REPUBLICANS GO HOME AND SIT THIS ONE OUT.
