GMA Guest: Obama Best Represented Teachings of Jesus

Imagine a liberal who had never voted for a Republican. He spends a year trying to live like Jesus Christ, after which he decides to vote for McCain, feeling that McCain best represents the teachings of Christ. What are the odds Good Morning America would have him on to discuss his experiences and political change of heart?

But when an evangelical Christian who had never voted for a Democrat spends a year trying to live like Jesus, then decides to vote for Obama, well, GMA devotes a segment to his story.

Rev. Ed Dobson is the evangelical in question, and let me begin by saying that he certainly seems to be a sincere and thoughtful person. A graduate of Bob Jones University and a member of the Moral Majority's founding board, Dobson was the pastor of Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, MI until retiring in 2005 to battle Lou Gehrig's disease. He is currently a member of the administration of Cornerstone University. Dobson explained that he was inspired by A. J. Jacobs's book, The Year of Living Biblically, in which the author describes his experiences spending a year trying to obey all biblical rules.

GMA weekend co-anchor Bill Weir interviewed Dobson, and the discussion eventually turned to politics.

Hmm I wonder when the best teaching of Jesus were represented by not just standing by, but agreeing that infants just born should be left to die in linen closets.

The liberals have succeeded in convincing people that legal abortions are compassionate. They have convinced people that it is the government’s responsibility to take from those with more and give to those with less. Why? Because people cannot be trusted to look out for the less fortunate and therefore must be forced to do so.

All my life I was a bleeding heart lib thinking that the policies they sought to institute were right for this country. It wasn’t until I got a little older that I understood that those policies did more harm than good. I saw it in my own family.

I don’t doubt this guy thinks he is right. That’s how the devil works though.

It’s entirely possible that zero is more like Jesus Christ than McCain, but how would be ever know? If there is anything substantial about zero, the MSM has effectively shielded us from it. Does this Dobson character know something we don’t? If so, out with it, please!

Meanwhile, those of us whom the media has kept in the dark, save for a few negatives that slipped by (Rev. Wright, pro-abortion extremist, questionable eligibility, etc.) are compelled to use what little info we have about the man.

zero strikes me as more like Anti-Christ than Jesus Christ.

“Rev. Ed Dobson: Lived like Jesus for one year”

So Ed, what was it like raising the dead, healing the sick, casting out demons, and never sinning for a whole year?

It bothered me that on the day set aside to celebrate the birth of a Child, this story was the Christmas day front page headline news of the Grand Rapids Press

http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2008/12/retired_pastor_spends_year_eat.html

then later

USA Today http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2009-01-01-jesus-year_N.htm

and yet the 1/4/09 Good Morning America show

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Weekend/story?id=6573818

His response to Cornerstone University can be found at:
