Palin launches pit bull-with-lipstick salvos
Washington Times ^ | Saturday, January 03, 2009 | Jennifer Harper

Alaska has a new form of wildlife: Gov. Sarah Palin, who has turned into a mama tiger, or a grandmama tiger anyway, in defense of her young.

Mrs. Palin is engaging in an unusually personal attempt to protect her 18-year-old daughter Bristol from the inaccuracies of the press.

In three different accounts, journalists have described Miss Palin and/or her fiance Levi Johnston as "high-school dropouts."

if that happened today, she simply would have been aborted and everyone - even the so-called pro-life crowd -would have approved.

Sadly, you are mostly correct. I disagree that the real pro-life croud would approve, though. They are kind of like RINOs, pro-life in name only.

I could certainly get behind a Palin/Romney ticket! That is probably our strongest combination for 2012.

OMG, are you insane?? You must not have children.

And let me tell you something. You are expecting us to believe that Mitt Romney had 5 boys and they never did anything against mommy and daddy’s wishes? Either they didn’t get caught or Daddy took care of it.

On this thread you have attempted to strike down Sarah Palin on the deeds of her daughter's pregnancy (#24 and others), a book deal she was reportedly offered (#38), her position on abstinence (#95), her “love of the limelight” (#6), her “unexplainable for a true conservative” values (#24), and her not being a “good mom” because her daughter got pregnant and you find it “totally disgusting and a huge embarrassment to conservatives everywhere” (#37).

All this in an effort to promote another person.

Then you've whined that you don't have a place to promote Mitt Romney (#22) so you choose the threads on Palin. Then you state you are “not going to argue over this” (#100) after being challenged on your positions over the previous 99 comments.

Please know that your righteous striping down of another person and their family appears as rank hypocrisy. And to make your plight even worse, you're doing it to elevate another. There is nothing honorable or righteous about relentless digging at Sarah Palin in the effort to promote Mitt Romney - especially with his record of supporting legislation for murder. That same murder that leaves tens-of-thousands dead, and the women involved at a 5 times higher risk for breast cancer and psychological trauma. In addition, you're promoting a person who supported Massachusetts socialized medicine, and I don't know of anything conservative about that.

So before you call me a Romney-hater or anti-Mormon or a “Saint Sarah” follower, save it. We're years away from the debate of a nominee for President. However, when that time comes, your opinion will mean nothing to me. As a matter of fact, your opinions expressed in this thread and methods for ignoring qualified facts will discourage me from supporting any candidate you deem worthy.

You do your cause no good whatsoever.

If nothing else, the absolute bladder emptying terror shown by liberals and their conser-faux-tive fellow travelers any time Governor Palin is mentioned indicates she's a power to be reckoned with.

Her detractors are little more than yappy dogs who whine, growl and tremble when her name is mentioned and then in frustration that they aren't being taken seriously lash out to bite at her fingers with all the ferocity of a cornered puppy.

The problem is not the pregnancy but that Sarah says she is for absenance...I am too but she did not teach that to her children. Why? Does she speak these words to the public but not her family?

Maybe she did teach it to her children? You don't know if she didn't. How many people disobey their parents at one time or another at 17 years old?

Conservatives have lost their family values beliefs BIG TIME. That is probably the most disappointing thing I am learning lately. They went orgasmic for John McCain and you could not give negative comments (until he lost) and now Sarah whose family values are?????

Where did the Mitt stand on abortion when he was governor of Mass?. Tell me about conservative values.

Thank you for posting that link to the Romney comment made by Jim Robinson. That thread was also very insightful. We should remember that we ended up with McCain as our candidate because the right was unable to get behind one "Anybody But McCain" candidate. We split ourselves between Romney, Huckabee, Thompson, and Giuliani, and we ended up with McCain.

I'll once again quote the words of warning that Robert Stacy McCain wrotein November after the "anonymous" smears were coming out about Palin:

Palin is being sabotaged by Republicans who are trying to scramble aboard the Jeb Bush 2012 bandwagon. [Nicole Wallace, btw, worked for Jeb.]

Conservatives who support Palin recognize her as a potential fresh start for the GOP, whereas devotees of the status quo are looking to continue the Bush dynasty. Republicans got stuck with John McCain as this year’s nominee not because there was an overwhelming landslide for McCain (who finished with just 47% of the GOP primary vote) but because conservatives failed to unite behind an Anybody But McCain candidate.

Mark my words, the 2012 primaries will come down to Jeb Bush vs. Please God Not Jeb Bush, and Palin is the obvious PGNJB candidate. If the field gets overcrowded with a bunch of wannabes — Huckabee, Romney, etc. — dividing up the PGNJB vote, then we’ll get Jeb Bush. We’ve already had two Bushes too many.

So, yeah, the GOP is screwed because somebody made the wrong running-mate choice, but it wasn’t made by John McCain in 2008. It was made by Ronald Reagan in 1980. Conservatives should rally around the slogan, “NO MORE BUSHES.” [emphasis added]

If has-beens like Romney and Huckabee play spoilers again, we'll end up with another Bush -- and this one will make his brother look like a Kos Kid.

I would like to remind people who want to judge a candidate by their success as a parent that the two greatest conservative politicians of the last century were wildly unsuccessful as parents. I'm speaking of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher.

One only has to look at the behavior of Patti Davis and Ron Jr. to see what I mean.

And when we get to dear Lady Thatcher the situation is even more embarrassing. Her son, Mark Thatcher, is perhaps the most disreputable son of a politician one could ever imagine. Just to give you an idea of what I mean -- the United States refused to give him a visa! You read that correctly. The U.S. refused to give the son of Margaret Thatcher, a woman who was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, a visa to live with his (now ex) wife and children in Dallas, TX. Why, you ask? Because he was charged and pleaded guilty to being involved in the 2004 military coup attempt in Equatorial Guinea. And there was also the matter of his loan shark operations in South Africa. He's not welcome in a whole host of European countries either. He kind of reminds me of the character of Melmotte in the Anthony Trollope novel "The Way We Live Now." He travels from country to country, develops some outrageous business scheme, makes a whole pile of money exploiting some person or group in a manner which, if barely legal, is totally unethical, and then he zips out of town before he gets lynched by an angry mob. His behavior eventually caught up with him with the coup attempt. That was just too brazen even for him. The guy is a complete scumbag, and I feel genuinely sorry for his mother. She did her best by him, but this is how he turned out.

Bristol Palin's indiscretion pales in comparison. If we were to have held Reagan or Thatcher's parenting skills against them, we would have never been blessed with their leadership.

By the way, I'm sure there are a number of liberal politicians with nice kids. Should we vote for them on that basis alone? Nixon's daughters are model citizens. He never once had to be embarrassed by anything Trisha and Julie did. Was he a better president than Reagan whose wild daughter Patti was embarrassing her father and his administration constantly?

What an amazing story! That story needs to be written down and told. I hope that friend of your family has written a memoir.

He is pro-life. What he did in Mass is EXACTLY what Reagan did in Cali. So stop trashing the true conservatives like Reagan and Romney.

I'm amazed that she shared it at all. Not sure I would have. She's a remarkable woman and gave many of her friends and family ammo against the pro-life-except-for-rape-or-incest crowd.

I've shared the story with several people and closed it with the question, "Did Mrs D - wife, mother, school teacher - deserve to die?" Talk about a subject changer!

I’m sure she did teach those values to her children. But, when two kids are in love, sometimes hormones take over. We can’t be with our kids 24 hours a day. This has nothing to do with Sarah.

“Slander is not an easy case to prove in court.”

Isn’t truth a defense, in these types of accusations?

Like: “The daughter had a baby, out of wedlock.”

Defense: It is true. (Public figure, or not).

Alternate strategies: Don’t have babies out of wedlock, or don’t run for public office.

Rommeney is no conservative....Only when it was convenient.....I cannot believe all the Palin bashing by some individuals on this site....If it had not been for her no telling how we may have ended up.....I think we may have saved some Senators and Congressmen or women by her being on the ticket....I will not ever vote for Rommney it is conservative or nothing.....Believe me after this four years we are about to go through only a true conservative will be able to pull us out....Palin fits the bill and I know you understand that...

> All that is nessecary for evil to succed...

If we want Palin to have a shot in 2012, we need to start the full court press now. Otherwise the media will take her apart over the new four years. The media hate ger for far more than her politics. The media hate and revile rural people. And, for them, Alaska is the ultimate fly-over country.

You can count on RINOs to betray her at every turn, so it’s up to us.

I heard the kids are doing some sort of internet classes to get their high school diploma. In the interview, Sarah does not even address what avenue they are taking to complete this simple goal.

Uh, excuse me, but. Why the hell should she?

You speak as though you put a premium on "class time." I don't know why they should waste their time.

I finished high school by exam at the age of 16 and went on to college. If it doesn't fit your life, there's not much reason to be there.
