Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin says both her 18-year-old daughter Bristol, who gave birth to son Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Saturday, and fiance Levi Johnston are working hard to balance schoolwork with their new parental obligations, People Magazine reported.
"You need to know that both Levi and Bristol are working their butts off to parent and going to school and working at the same time," the Alaska governor told the magazine in a phone message. "They are certainly not high school dropouts."
Any suggestion to the contrary "harms Bristol's reputation and Levi's reputation and their chances for good work opportunities," Pail said.

sadly, you are right.
The brigade has arrived. I guess you were equally dismayed at Cheney telling “to f*ck off” and Bush flipping the bird, right?
Would it be better if it she used the Biblical term and she said, “they are working their flesh off”??? Or how about just expand the term to gludiousmaximous....would that make you feel better? Now if she had said, “A$$” I would have to agree with you, I know bikers in the 60's liked that word and they were not nice people. ;(
Having raised a daughter who signed a “pledge to wait until marriage” only to break it (well, got drunk and date raped by three classmates), I know that parents can only do so much. We try to instill morality but as soon as a child enters pre-kindergarten, we parents start losing our influence. By the time a child is in Middle-School, if not before, Peer Pressure and Peer Immorality becomes more important than a Parent’s rules, regulations and threats. (Bill Cosby’s “I brought you into this world and I can take you out.” They know it’s not going to happen.)
And when the child does something we parents did not teach, whether it is a 5 year old stealing a small toy in a department store or a teenager getting drunk and ending up pregnant, then WE have to make choices.
How do we discipline the 5 year old? Physical discipline or do we take the child back to the store and make him return the toy and apologize to the store manager?
How do we discipline the pregnant teenager? Do we force some choice on her or wait until she says “Abortion is not an option.” Do we throw her pregnant butt out of the house. (Yes, it’s not her butt that got pregnant.) Do we let her figure it out on her own and decide to keep or adopt out the baby?
I do not understand how spanking a 5 year old will keep him from stealing. I also do not understand why parents would toss a teenage daughter out of their home when she needs them the most just because she became pregnant.
I admire Gov. Sarah Palin and First Dude Todd Palin MORE because they showed Bristol the unlimited love of parents. Their example speaks loud volumes for their children. Parental love is strong in their family and is an example for their children to follow.
As I’ve emailed to Governor Palin, perhaps this is God’s way of giving Trig a playmate who will take care of him when he grows up because of the bond established between Trig and Tripp through Bristol before Tripp was born. Ya just never know what God has in store when He takes a situation and works it for His good.
Happy New Year, all.
Yes.
Comments made privately are one thing. Public statements to the press are another.
The comment was crude and inappropriate.
It reminds me of an old Blondie cartoon. Dagwood's daughter is walking in all moon-eyed and rejects her parents advice to discuss the situation with a terse "Your generation doesn't understand love!"
Dagwood turns to Blondie and remarks "I suppose she thinks we're just good friends."
Your fanny, does not smell anymore like roses than someone elses buttocks. So there.
Neither was it crude, nor was it inappropiate. You might want to check comment 23.
Agreed. Levi, we are told, wants to be an electrician and Bristol wants to be a nurse. Fine ambitions, and within their reach. Go to it, you two; show the world the fabric you are made of. There are a lot of us who wish you well.
So did a depressingly shocking percentage of our self-style elite intelligentsia...
The "O-Magic" crossed all lines and boundaries... /g
Most people understand where the term comes from.
Public figures shouldn’t use coarse expressions. MOO
Until I hear it, I will think they've misquoted her...(not the first time)
She's open and honest, but I can't imagine her using that expression.
And to the poster early in this thread who suggested we are pinheads for questioning this, he/she can go pound sand a little bit :^
A he, my good.
We have opinions too....
.. because they don't jive with yours, you resort to childish playground insults!
You owe her an apology.
What's with Pail? Is that what the MSM is calling her now?
the “quotes” around the statement are intended to mean she actually said it.....journalists are pretty low, but I am sure they were taught in school what that means.
it may be Sarah has not yet learned that journalists are NOT her friends and she must guard each and every word she says.
And nobody brings up the question, what if these two are NOT in love? Is it your opinion that they still must get married and raise this child together in what can only be termed a “loveless” marriage if so?
You are correct. I did not mean to suggest that only the lower and middle classes were scum. ALL Obama voters are scum and filth. Just a refresher... “No, no, no — Not God Bless America. God DAMN America for killing women and children. God DAMN America, it’s in the Bible.”
