On this issue he's spot on.

very good summary by Derschowitz. Israel must be allowed to finish this war. No more of these silly cease fires that only allow Hamas to regroup and start this crap all over again.
If Palestinian civilians are killed, then so be it. they in fact voted these terrorists into power.

thanks for the posting. I keep asking myself, where have all these calls for cease-fire been for the last few years, or are Palestinian lives more valuable than Israelis.

Dershowitz is certainly no liberal when it comes to terrorism. I know his attitude toward torture is “do what you have to do and keep your mouth shut”

There’s not much that I can agree about with that moral leper Dershowitz. This time, he’s right.

Amazing how one who is so correct on this issue continues to actively oppose those who support his stance.

Just wait till your hero Obama gets in there, Dersh. He'll show those closet bigot Republicans what a
real pro-Israel policy is! [/sarcasm]
I wonder how much of Dershowitz' visibility on this issue is based on his convictions and how much is just an excuse to keep his name in the papers.

Dershowitz can be very exasperating, but I once watched him discuss constitutional issues with a group of other “authorities,” and realized that in his circles, he is, relatively speaking, the most sensible of the lot.
In this case, he is exactly right. This is not to avoid the obvious, which is that there is almost no way for Israel to win, except to depopulate Gaza. Merely winning militarily does not change anything. They must crush the very society which breeds terrorism. I would leave very little there, and deport the survivors to the antipodes.
At the very least, Israel should demand surrender from Hamas. Hamas must crawl to the table. No more of Hamas’s defiant “We will fight to the last drop of blood” unless they really intend to die, in which case they should be helped.

Thanks for posting this article! I included the link for it in one of my other threads, but it is great that you took the time to post it for everyone.

The US has it exactly right by placing the blame on Hamas, while urging Israel to do everything possible to minimize civilian casualties.
George W. Bush has it exactly right, Alan.
Give him credit.

Dershowitz is certainly correct here. Enough. Enough. We need to ignore the UN and EU and stop kowtowing to these “soft” anti-Semites.

This is great, because I am really clueless on this topic. When I saw that Alan Dershowitz wrote this, I hesitated, but then I saw all of these comments in agreement. Thank you so much for posting this.

Alan Dershowitz is an anti-Christian bigot, a leftist fraud, a hired gun for murderers, and a defender of Israeli espionage against the United States. You’re welcome to him.

The one way to defeat these anti Israeli bozos is to wipe out all of their top leadership and the ones left alive who come to the bargaining table will have to be surrendered over to Israel to stand trial for war crimes. After doing this a couple of times, it will become increasingly harder to raise up leadership willing to go after Israel when they know their own skin is on the line.
It's one thing to send someone else's kids to blow up as suicide bombers, they never send themselves to do the job. Attacking Israel will become a form of suicide for the top leaders if you go after them. The leadership of Hamas and Hezbollah is the key. Also, the defeat of Iran. That regime has to be changed.

It is the only thing on which he is right, but kudos to him for this.

The terrorists have learned how to exploit the morality of democracies... So has the Left. Cries of racism, sexism, homophobia and so on plus the alleged threat of Global Warming and myriad other issues that the Left claims to be concerned about are all dependent upon the rest of us living up to our morality. Terrorists and the Left hold us to a standard of perfection when it comes to our morality and when we are seen to violate those morals (whether we have or haven't) they denounce us as hypocrites and oppressors. Their actions aren't relevant. Only ours.
Gotta wonder, though (fair or unfair), just who learned this tactic from whom?
