I expect things to continue to escalate for the near future. Very interesting and crucial times we are in.

"Egyptian sources have reported that a convoy of trucks and medical supplies was not allowed by Hamas to enter the Strip. Hamas personnel also prevented wounded Gazan civilians from crossing the border."

Hamas is DEATH.

The last days of the Bush Administration are a golden opportunity for Israel to deal with the Hamas problem once and for all. Such an opportunity may not come again.

If al Qaeda and Osama bin Ladin were in a land salient extending into U.S. soil with the U.S. Navy on one side, the U.S. Army on two sides and a closed foreign border on the forth side, we would be thanking our lucky stars for putting our enemy in such a militarily untenable position.

The IDF has Hamas surrounded on thre sides and an armored push to the sea along the Gaza side of the Egyptian border will leave Hamas completely surrounded.

Once Israel has Hamas completely surrounded, all Israel needs to do, between now and Inauguration Day, is to kill it.

Iran is seriously overplaying its hand, and is working overtime to unite sunnis against them. The Iranians and their allies, especially Hezbollah, had better watch out and hunker down, because the Saudis in particular do not treat shiite rivals with kid gloves. I doubt that sunni Arab states could penetrate Iran, which has a formidable intelligence service, but Nasrallah would make a good proxy target.

The Saudis, Egyptians “take on” Iran? Please... in a political-economic sense maybe. But when the sh*t hits the fan, and a military approach is required the Arabs will do squat. It should rather read: Saudis and Egyptians hope for the US to take on Iran. They expect us to do the heavy lifting, and frankly they are also incapable of doing it themselves. Would be nice if they paid the bill at least.

"For the first time"

Sure right, because blowing apart the entire reviewing stand that Sadat was standing in with grenades was, well, peaceful and loyal and all that.

In case everyone just forgot, Mubarak was physically in the stands when the Brotherhood assassins shot his friend and mentor to death and tried to blow him to pieces with grenades. He is *not* they friend, and there is nothing *new* in this fact.
