CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — NASA's soon-to-be-retired space shuttles are up for grabs.

The space agency said Wednesday it's looking for ideas on where and how best to display its space shuttles once they stop flying in a few years. It's put out a call to schools, science museums and "other appropriate organizations" that might be interested in showcasing one of the three remaining shuttles.

Beware: NASA estimates it will cost about $42 million to get each shuttle ready and get it where it needs to go, and the final tab could end up much more.

One should stay at KSC, one should go to Houston (JSC) and one for the museum tour.

I would love to see some redneck win the lottery, buy it, and put it in his back yard as a play house for the kids. :->

A big Vegas casino should be one—or all of them!—and make it thrill ride!

I want one. I know, I will start a ponzi scheme, I mean investment group, get lots of people suckered in, I mean involved, then ask the govt to bail me out, I mean purchase my toxic assets. Its a brave new world out there.

We can't afford it. Unfortunately, that reality doesn't matter as much as it once did.

NASA estimates it will cost about $42 million

And that's just the bribes and kickbacks.

OR...one to KFC, one to IHOP, and put a porch on the other one and give it to Cracker Barrel.

Obviously, we need one here at Johnson Space Center/Space Center Houston. Ellington Field is only a few miles away - a cinch to transport.

sell them for a dollar. Have a drawing and let the new owners worry about moving them. Around here I know we could move it for less.

What valley would that be?

If it's the California Cnetral Valley, we got us a cool museum going near Merced now...
