A Research 2000 poll done for the progressive Web site Daily Kos shows in a possible match-up, MSNBC Hardballer Chris Matthews is only one point shy of long time Republican Sen. Arlen Specter.
The poll was conducted statewide via telephone among 600 likely voters Dec. 8th thru the 10th -- it showed in a general election match-up these possible scenarios:

A little early to be polling...
That is why I put the word early in there. :)
A DailyKos poll taken 2 years before the election?!?
What, was it a slow news day in Pittsburgh?
Oh, wonderful. Another “lesser of two evils” election.
Liberals, given the choice, will vote for a liberal Democrat over a liberal Republican.
Specter is toast
...I don’t think Matthews even lives in PA....last time I saw him was in my daughter’s DC suburb of Chevy Chase, MD.
How about a poll of a Conservative going against Specter?
Good....Al Franken and Spittin Chrissy will show what a JOKE the SENATE has become!
I am kind of impressed that Daily Kos has a poll. Conservatives need that kind of infrastructure. We always complain about the MSM giving us the shaft, but we fail to produce our own infrastructure on the net.
“Liberals, given the choice, will vote for a liberal Democrat over a liberal Republican.”
yeah, for sure. The only good thing Specter brings to the Republican party is headcount. But, gotta say, I am so tired of the RINO’s such as Specter, McCain, Snow, etc, that I for one am perfectly willing to loose the headcount just to clean up the Republican party.
Let me get this straight. A website, that only radical leftists visit, can’t choose Chrissie over a Republican?
I don’t even think Specter is going to run again. He is not well. I would guess Lynn Swann will try for it.
Nope, I will not be suckered into the “lesser of two evils” mindset again. I did it with Specter last time he ran and with McCain this time. NO MORE! I have not heard any rumblings here in Pa. about a conservative primary challenger (are there even any conservative Republicans left in Pennsylvania?). Win or lose, Specter is not getting my vote.
Swann v. Mathews.........that could prove interesting.
“I for one am perfectly willing to loose the headcount just to clean up the Republican party.”
Yea, but to “clean up the Republican party” you risk losing the nation. (ie: A filabuster proof Senate)
Is this going to be another Frankenfarce?
If Toomey had the seat there would be no contest.
Once again, a RINO will lose a seat.
