Obama: Review shows no inappropriate contact
Las Vegas Sun ^ | December 15, 2008

President-elect Barack Obama said Monday a review by his own lawyer shows he had no direct contact with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich about the appointment of a Senate replacement, and transition aides "did nothing inappropriate."

Obama said he is prepared to make the review public, but decided to hold off because prosecutors asked for a delay and "I don't want to interfere with an ongoing investigation."

Controversy has swirled around the president-elect and his incoming White House chief of staff, Rep. Rahm Emanuel, following Blagojevich's arrest last week on charges he schemed to trade Obama's Senate seat for personal gain.

Obama, fielding questions at a news conference, sidestepped when asked whether Emanuel had spoken with aides to the governor.

Emanuel was one of several aides who watched the news conference from the wings.

The president-elect pledged the results of the investigation by his incoming White House counsel, Gregory Craig, would be released "in due course."

He said the probe was complete and thorough, but did not say which of his aides Craig interviewed, whether any of them was under oath at the time, or any other details.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

I believe he had “indirect contact.”

I also believe only an idiot would say “may lawyer says I’m innocent.”

President Nixon said Monday a review by his own lawyer shows he had no direct involvement in the Watergate break-in and his White House aides “did nothing inappropriate.”

Nixon said he is prepared to make the review public, but decided to hold off because prosecutors asked for a delay and “I don’t want to interfere with an ongoing investigation.”

Controversy has swirled around the president and his White House chief of staff H. R. “Bob” Haldeman, following the Watergate arrests last week on charges the Republicans were engaging in illegal “dirty trick”.

Nixon, fielding questions at a news conference, sidestepped when asked whether G. Gordon Liddy had any dealings with the arrested burglars.

Liddy was one of several aides who watched the news conference from the wings.

The president pledged the results of the investigation by his White House counsel would be released “in due course.”

He said the probe was complete and thorough, but did not say which of his aides his lawyer interviewed, whether any of them was under oath at the time, or any other details.

No inappropitate contact Sounds so much like: “No Inappropriate Touching.”

Of course, no reporter asked him if he had any contact at all with the Gov. in which he discussed personally or through an aide about filling the Senate seat. Let him answer that question without all the lawyer speak and let the public decide. All he did was answer the question without telling us what we want to know.

Obama says: “I did not have [sex] with that Governor.”

Anything inconvenient to the 0bamunist is banished to limbo.

Freepers should be making hard copies for posterity. One in the file and one buried somewhere safe. I hate it when they change history.

If you replaced Obama with Bush in this headline, review would be in quotation marks.

Honi soit qui mal y pense!

"There was no inappropriate contact."

In parsing the words of Algonquin J. Obamba, aka The chosen One, this means
Of course there was contact ... but it was entirely appropriate for me to be taking care of business, because just although I may now be running the whole country, it doesn't mean I am letting go of Chicago."

BTW as I prepare for my fourteenth IRS visit, I would like to know what happened to the "Obamba Leftovers" from the campaign. Unspent campaign funds go right into the winning (or losing) candidates's pocket. In The Anointed One's case, that means about 50-Super-Large. Is this taxable? Besides making Barry and Michelle super-rich, it also makes him a major player in the national democrat party with the ability to support the candidates of his choice.

O yeah, one other thing, why did they spring the trap on Blago now? He hadn't done anything criminallywrong yet! No money changed hands, no names were named that we know of, etc. Sure they can get Blago to resign or throw him out, but a day-one Public Defender could get him off on what they have so far. Call me cynical, but I think we are seeing a pre-emptive strike by Rahm Emannuel .. to protect his boss!

Fitzie the Fearless Prosecutor? DMML Bought and paid for a long time ago by the Clintonistas... a very political animal.

Bye-bye Blago.

That brings up my biggest question.

It has been reported that Fitz had enough to take "Bed Head" into custody months ago but was told to back off so as not to influence the elections.

Who gave him this order and WHO IS UNDULY INFLUENCING OUR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. The public arrest of Blago could have had a large and JUST negative influence on Zer0...and someone, somewhere made a choice for me and the rest of the United States that it would not be good to form opinions on candidates.

THIS IS A REAL CRIME PERPETRATED AGAINST U.S. CITIZENS!!

Jeez, I wouldn't know nuttin about dat. I was busy campaigning for Odinga over in Kenya. Blago? Hardly know the guy.

BTW, I don't care much for your casting aspersions about Fitzie the Fearless Prosecutor, Fighter for Truth, Justice, and the American Way ... and not a political bone in his fair white body!

Just remember what happens to Irish Pennants, me hearty bucko. They gets whipped.

Well, Irish Pennants get plucked and pulled out...and as the wife so fondly says, I annoyingly keep popping up in her clothes. Go figure...she used to like that.

Sweet game if you’re in, ain’t it.

>>why did they spring the trap on Blago now?

The One Million Dollar question, hadn’t really DONE anything wrong, as you accurately say, apart from the shakedown at the hospital, but, pardon moi, that sounds more SOP than anything unusual.

>>Bye, Bye Blago.

Heck, I hope not. Fight, man, Fight. Obamawallahs I visited with weren’t happy when I mentioned that nice CHANGE, perhaps the first President Elect to have a scandal even before he takes office.

—There was no inappropriate contact

May go down with other chestnuts like Clinton’s “is”, the finger wag nondenial denial, Nixon’s not a crook, and Dubya’s Bring it On and assorted others.

Why now?

Maybe because the ongoing investigation into the hospital is complex, but this Senate appointment stuff was new and los hanging fruit, slam dunk.

Also, if Fitz knew, but didn’t charge until after the appointment, I don’t think he would look good. Or it will be twisted so.
