McCain scolds GOP for whacking Obama
Politico ^ | 2008-12-14 | Mike Allen

In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.

On ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked: “The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mike Duncan, has been highly critical of the way President- elect Obama has dealt with this.

"He's had a statement every single day, saying that the Obama team should reveal all contacts they've had with Governor [Rod] Blagojevich. He says that Obama's promise of transparency to the American people is now being tested. Do you agree with that?”

McCain replied: “I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody — right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together, not only on an issue such as this, but on the economy stimulus package, reforms that are necessary. And so, I don't know all the details of the relationship between President-elect Obama's campaign or his people and the governor of Illinois, but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.”

I wouldn’t say the right Democrat won since McCain has him beat on maybe a couple of issues, not much but certainly on foreign policy. As to the rest of what you said Amen, I certainly would feel better about the economy if Romney would be coming in.

So now this lame broke-d!ck loser who never really ran for president remove the last visage of a spine to bend over and drop trou whining to the party to be nice.

I too am glad that he lost because he would have made a terrible president but a great appeaser in chef (no miss spelled word there).

It is so evident to me that there is nothing good in Washington and I fear for the Republic.

I think that it is past time to provide an alternative to either party.

I also think that one should be ready to defend the Republic from these enemies in Washington who have proven that they are unworthy to lead.

I agree, McCain’s an idiot. . .but this article’s headline is not a fair appraisal of McCain’s statement. McCain doesn’t “scold” the RNC. . .he just makes his usual self-serving “look a me, I’m a maverick” statements. He doesn’t in anyway suggest getting to the bottom of the particular issue is not necessary or inappropriate.

This is a good example of why McCain lost the election. Again.....I do not believe that the Republican Party wanted the White House during these times. They turned Americans over to the socialists.

I agree. Since 1994, I've repeatedly had the impression that the Republicans in Congress uncomfortable with being in power. They were like the Israelites during the Exodus, complaining about how much better slavery to the Egyptians was. The Republicans would much rather give responsibility (and power) back the Democrats - and since 2006, they've gotten their wish.

“My friends”, this guy is an idiot.

And he's got "the scars to prove it". LOL

Take your "friends" and your scars and GO AWAY, John.

McCain was simply too stupid to be president. Hussein ain’t much better, but he may at least be above Juans moron status.

Well, Republicans DID have a chance selecting Mitt Romney, but no, Evangelicals and other bigots couldn’t get past his religion. Now we have Barack Obama, which was as predictable then as it is now in hindsight. Let’s see what happens now. For me and my house, we have our guns, food storage, and bunker mentality. We hope Obama becomes a great president, but JUST IN CASE everything goes to hell; at least we’ll survive longer than most.

McCain always steps right up to defend the dims, and yet is strangely quiet when conservatives are attacked. I think it is past time for him to retire. If he is not ready to retire then he should be honest and switch parties.

I’m thinking we’re lucky this a-hole didn’t get elected afterall.”

Yup.
With hindsight, it may not be as bas as we think, having the nut Mccain lose, so we can get a real conservative in 2012.
McCain is psychologically screwed up. He has a fatal psychological flaw whereby he gets off being abused by evil creatures. He is not happy unless he is attacking anyone who back him. McCain is a sadis nut.

God how I regret holding my nose and voting for this turd.

Unfortunately, there is only one way to stop having to do that.....and that is to not vote for them when they get the nomination.

The theory we kept getting bombarded with was that McCain was beloved of the MSM and would do well. Truth is that the moment he became the nominee he became just another Republican for the MSM to target. Theory WRONG.

The MSM tried to destroy Reagan at every turn. But as a Conservative he was able to respond in opposition. McCain was just able to blubber, and zig-zag, and issue lukewarm press releases.

When the Republican Party vomits on your plate, you are better off eating something else than you are holding your nose and asking for a fork.

Hopefully only two, after the good citizens of Arizona remove him from office in 2010”

We need to know the name of the guy that stands against him in the Republican Party quick, so we can send him as much money as we can to squish that bug McCain.

“On an October morning, in the Gulf of Tonkin, I prepared for my 23rd mission over North Vietnam. I hadn’t any worry I wouldn’t come back safe and sound. I thought I was tougher than anyone. I was pretty independent then, too.

(LAUGHTER)

I liked to bend a few rules and pick a few fights for the fun of it. But I did it for my own pleasure, my own pride. I didn’t think there was a cause that was more important than me.”

McCain said that near the end of his acceptance speech at the convention. He went on to say that the POW experience cured him of his self-absorption and show-off ways.

” I was beginning to learn the limits of my selfish independence.

Those men saved my life.”

Nice story, and McCain said that experience taught him to end his selfish, self-absorbed ways. Maybe temporarily, but I see no evidence that the change was permanent, we constantly see the same “selfish independence” and “picking a few fights” for his own pleasure and pride over and over in his political career.

I think McCain defined himself in that part of his acceptance speech. The only thing wrong was he said he put those selfish, show-off habits behind. He didn’t.

I’m betting its dawned on him that most of the votes he got were for Palin, not him. I’m sure that doesn’t make him happy.

Was this McCain truth file available during the primaries here on FreeRepublic? If so I did not see it because we certainly could have used it. I only saw one for Romney and Guiliani.

I started the "Just Say No to Juan McCain" ping list in July; it morphed into the Truth File on AiT's suggestion later.

Apologies for not starting sooner. I was busy studying, and I hadn't made up my mind about the election earlier.
