Caylee Anthony Update: Several Items of Interest Found

The Caylee Anthony case took a dramatic turn yesterday when a child's skeletal remains were found approximately three-tenths of a mile from the home of Casey Anthony's parents, George and Cindy Anthony. Since that time, the remains have been sent off for positive identification and a search warrant has been obtained for the Anthony family home.

Investigators conducting the search of the home have been seen removing enough items to fill up at least three vehicles. The search, which began yesterday evening, continued until early this morning.

A sheriff's deputy has now been posted in front of the house to guard what is now being described as a "crime scene" by the sheriff's office. A sheriff's office helicopter is also patrolling the area to ensure that no one attempts to corrupt the crime scene.

Items removed from the Anthony family home include: three vacuum cleaners, two pesticide tanks, a small pillow, seven large paper bags and four boxes of potential evidence.

Kevin BearyDuring an interview with CNN, Orange County sheriff Kevin Beary said that investigators "absolutely" found something of interest while searching the home.

In a separate interview with "The Today Show," Beary said that something found with the child skeletal remains prompted the search.

"We know that there's some clues that came out of the remains found yesterday and that's why we've kind of linked it back to the house. That's why we did everything proper, got a search warrant and secured the premises and searched into the wee hours this morning," Beary said.

Investigators are planning to continue the search later today. They also plan on conducting another search of the area where the child skeletal remains were found.

The remains have since been sent to the FBI crime lab in Quantico, Virginia, where experts are conducting expedited testing to identify them. According to Beary, a positive ID could take up to two weeks.

Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, has filed an emergency motion to ensure that defense experts can be present while the remains are tested. A hearing to rule on that motion has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today.

Crime SceneMeanwhile, a source inside the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office has said that the death penalty that was recently taken off the table would be reconsidered if the remains are proven to be Caylee. It was just one week ago that the state attorney's office announced they would not seek the death penalty against Anthony in the first-degree murder of Caylee.

Events that have transpired in the last 24 hours were set in motion yesterday morning, when an Orange County water meter reader discovered child skeletal remains inside a black plastic garbage bag near Chickasaw Trail and Suburban Drive in Orlando.

The worker immediately notified police and the area was cordoned off as a crime scene. Sources close to the investigation say that remnants of duct tape were found on both the skull and the trash bag.

Casey Anthony has done nothing but lie ever since her mother dragged her to the police.....she still sits in jail. If I were a potential jury member I would strive to remain uninformed and base my judgement on the facts presented at trial. I am NOT a Floridian, nor do I expect to be on that jury. Given all that we know, the mother is the only suspect. Just as OJ was. I will leave the rest to your imagination. Mine is quite active.

I know almost nothing about the Elizabeth Smart case, so no opinion. I didn't feel there was enough evidence in the Ramsey case, so no opinion.

This case has tons of evidence, JUST LIKE THE OJ case that you seemed to agree with.

Sorry if I scare you - I see no difference in my reading this information and forming an opinion from someone sitting on a jury, hearing this same information and forming an opinion. The only difference would be Casey's smarmy lawyer trying to twist the facts.

I'm not planning to head to Florida and insist on some kind of public hanging - I'm stating that in my opinion, based on the facts that have been printed, the pos is guilty. You can wait and jump on the bandwagon after the fact if you want.

I have to laugh at you trying to paint me as some vigilente about this woman when you clearly don't accept the jury verdict on OJ. lol Pot meet kettle...

I agree. Either those people are were in cahoots with their daughter or they are in the deepest state of denial.

OK.

The OJ case.

I have my opinion. The same opinion that ANY REASONABLE PERSON would have after hearing the evidence.

But!!!!!

The fault of the outcome in the OJ case rests SQUARELY on the prosecution.
They KNEW when the trial started that there would be a racial component, yet they did not challenge the jury selection.
They KNEW when the trial started that they would be presenting scientific and technical evidence, yet they did not insist on having a jury that could understand it.

Trust me. OJ’s case will be studied for years, and stand as a beacon of what NOT TO DO in certain similar cases.

We can do all that and benefit from it and still not throw out the concepts of no double jeopardy or presumption of innocence.

The area has been underwater until recently.

That's so especially cold. The killer/s didn't even bother to dig a grave, the black garbage bag containing Caylee's body was just tossed out into water.

Interesting that OJ comes up now, while the MSM cleans their websites of any contact between Gov Blago and Obama......preparing the way for a white wash of the whole affair. Reasonable people make sound judgements a lot of the time. And the legal system is known to fail. I think this mother is right where she should be - in jail. While little Caylee will not be anxiously awaiting Santa, her mom should not be attending Christmas parties either.

I knew when he was declared brain dead, he was not here anymore, but it is a comfort to me that he was lovingly buried in a nice place and I can stop by once in a while. At least I know where his body is.

And at least he knew that he was loved very, very much.

the concepts of double jeopardy and innocent until proven guilty apply to the government’s case against an individual. private citizens, like those of us on FR, are free to form our own opinions and decide for ourselves. private individuals are not bound to consider her innocent until proven guilty.

You claim innoncent until proven guilty. OJ was proven innocent according to our laws yet you seem to be able to wave that jury decision based on your own determinination of jury nullification.

I happen to agree the jury voted black, period.

But you can't have it both ways - you can't say oj was guity despite a jury finding him not so, for whatever reason, and claim I'm prejudging Casey based on evidence.

i heard a former prosecutor and a defense atty discussing this on Fox earlier today. As the prosecutor says, they have tons of evidence, everything except for a video of casey actually perpetrating the crime. the defense atty says it’s all circumstantial. Those are the two diff sides of this. unfortunately for casey, guilty verdicts are returned in circumstantial cases all the time. were i a prosecutor, i would like my chances of a conviction in this case.

it was a cold, heartless thing to do to throw that precious body into the backwaters of Florida.....I hope she gets everything she deserves.

even if she wasn’t the one that did the throwing [apparently there is some speculation that another person may have been involved after the fact], even if she had help, doesn’t make her any less guilty of the crime, based on the other evidence which has been reported. the police and prosecutors ofc have moved slowly and deliberately in this case. they are not going to screw it up if they can help it.

They KNEW when the trial started that they would be presenting scientific and technical evidence, yet they did not insist on having a jury that could understand it.

Marcia Clark did such a poor job presenting the DNA evidence- explaining what it meant- that I don't think any jury would have "got it" from her. I was really interested in that part of the case and carefully watched the DNA presentation done by Marcia- Oh she was terrible, she made it so confusing I felt OJ would get off just for that reason. If no one on the prosecution team understood DNA well enough to break it down in terms the jury could understand they should have had a professional present that part.

Listen.

I never “waved”(sic) a damn thing. I think OJ was guilty.

But the prosecution FAILED to prove it.
Game over.

But for some reason, that fact leaves you unsettled, like you want him retried. And something about the OJ case seems to have you worried that this woman might get away with a murder she might have committed.

I’m sorry if I rub you the wrong way for thinking she should have a fair trial, and let the forensics come out then.

You have expressed alot of frustration here, if you have a better way to do things, you are certainly free to make suggestions.

I think my points have been clear enough for most people.

She WILL get a trial. She WILL get a fair trial and have the right to defend herself. She WILL NOT be lynched.

my prayer for Caylee was that if she couldn't be found alive, that her body would be found and point directly to the guilty party. with the body decomposing in water all this time, I hope they can connect this to the guilty one with what they do have. and her mother sits in jail directly in the sights of that circumstantial evidence....so be it. had MY daughter been missing for even an hour I would have been a wreck.

[apparently there is some speculation that another person may have been involved after the fact]

Was that in a story someplace? My guess is it was her brother, Lee.

There was a million reasons we might find Nicoles blood in OJ’s car.
There was only one reason we might find Goldman’s blood there.
OJ killed him, that’s why!

That’s as simple as I can make it.
