ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The remains of a young child were located in east Orange County on Thursday morning less than a half-mile from Casey Anthony's parents' home, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Eyewitness News has learned an Orange County water meter reader discovered a bag in the area of Chickasaw Trail and Suburban Drive (see map), around three-tenths of a mile from the Anthonys' home (map from location to Anthonys' home).
According to information obtained by Eyewitness News, when the meter reader picked up the bag a skull fell out. The Orange County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to Eyewitness News that the body is a young child.
"We are assuming they are the remains of a victim," said Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Solomons.
It is not clear at this point whether the body could be Caylee Anthony.
"We know we have a recent discovery. We have investigators on the scene. We need to determine what we have," said Solomons.
Reports from the scene say deputies have set up a perimeter near a small retention pond.

There is just nothing but endless bad news.
Children are born into the world without a shred of hope, they die brutally, and are eventually totally forgotten. The selfishness and carnage is only going to rise and win.

Well, it happens to us all eventually.
Casey has been locked up for awhile, so I would doubt that she's implicated in putting these remains there. Probably they were just missed. But maybe an animal drug the bag out from a more hidden spot and left it?
Her mother put her in a plastic bag and literally tossed her out like she was garbage. I hope the Orlando DA changes this to a death penalty case now.

They can find fingerprints on duct tape, the bag was wrapped in duct tape.

I always thought the “close to home” comment was a psychotic clue to everyone... she was telling them the baby was right under their nose.
It’s easy for the dead and terrible for those who must be forced to live and see it happen.
Yeah but they are saying the area was flooded at the time of the search and they couldn’t go in (makes no sense), and then the next time they went back in a chain link fence was up.
WTF? So the people who put up the fence didn’t notice this?
