Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's recent trip to Iowa, where they hold those presidential caucuses every four years, leads me to suspect he may share the media speculation that he could be the Next Great Thing in the Republican Party.
It also reminded me how Jindal signed a dumb and devious bit of legislation last summer, allowing local school districts to promote alternative (i.e., religious) doctrines in their science curriculums when it comes to evolution.
Jindal is obviously one bright guy. How can he equate ancient creation myths with the hard facts of physics and biology?
One might think that the Republicans learned something from the drubbing they took in the 2006 and 2008 elections. But like Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee (and John McCain in 2008), Jindal is apparently happy to cater to the religious right, even if it means teaching superstition in the classroom
Scripture is very clear that creatures reproduced “after their kind.” There is no room in Scripture for evolution.
But you’re free to believe what you’d like. No need for you to trust Scripture. It’s a pretty ridiculous book, as most of the world concurs, including, apparently, you.
Equating Bible-believing Christians and Islamists?
You are pathetic, my God-hating friend.
I challenge you to study Scripture, Inzog, especially the first few chapters of Genesis. It’s really not possible to believe both Scripture and Darwin if you’re logically consistent.
Somehow I doubt you’ve researched both Scriptural creationism and Darwinian evolution. Just sayin’.
Thank you for sharing your first-hand experience, Sonic. You were there, right? You know that Scripture is really actually wrong with it speaks of a “first man” or when it speaks of sin bringing death into the world or when it speaks of the order of creation. Yes, we mustn’t trust Scripture.
Mocking Scripture. Nice.
muawiyah would rather mock Scripture than pursue truth. Takes less effort.
Please take this in the generous spirit it's intended: You are ignorant of Scripture.
The Bible clearly says that death is the result of sin. Evolution clearly says that death is the vehicle through which the evolution of life takes place.
Incompatible. Period.
Also, check out the phrase "after their kind." I imagine you've never noticed that before. And check out the order of creation.
My friend, there is freedom in believing God, and being slow to believe human theories conceived to supplant the truth of Scripture.
You’re misunderstanding and misrepresenting my point.
huh? I didn’t say or imply that. Did you respond to the wrong post?
Never mind the last post.
I see what you where up to, just playing the bearing false witness game.
I figured it wouldn’t be long before you showed up, Coyoteman. It is your mission to discount God, to dismiss Scripture, to ridicule those who believe in a Creator.
Such a pathetic life you must live. Such purposelessness beyond trashing those who believe in Truth.
You are pathetic, Coyoteman. I’ve given you a scientific theory for Creationism in a previous post, yet you continue to cover your ears and yell that nobody has provided one.
You are no scientist. If you were, you would be open to considering the evidence, to considering various extent theories.
Fill in the blank, Coyoteman: “______ goes before destruction, and a ________ spirit before a fall.” You seem to be destined for destruction, for a fall. Unless a change comes to your heart and mind.
You wrote, “A lot of us believe in evolution, it doesnt negate belief in God.”
That’s what I was responding to. Scripture is very clear, if you’ve taken good long looks at it, that “all this” did not come about through gradual increases in genetic information (i.e., “evolution”).
Scripture is not compatible with evolution. It’s just not.
You’re not following. I quoted Genesis to support my contention that muawiyah is far from believing it literally, as he no doubt sincerely believes he does.
Ooops, sorry. I was the one who was confused. I originally replied to doc1019, who identified himself as a “crazy bible literalist”, but I also replied to muawiyah, who had interjected a comment, and I failed to notice I had two correspondents.
One belief is that the scriptures were written by God directly on stone (or some other weatherproof material) and then copied by men to lesser materials. A different belief is that the scriptures were inspired by God in the minds of men who then wrote them down (or, in ancient times, commited them to memory).
Every set of Holy Scriptures for any given religion is subject to these two different beliefs.
(BTW, applies even if we are talking about "gods" rather than God).
I fall into the camp of those who believe God inspires men who then write/preach from the Word. Consequently I'm open to the idea that God may well have inspired a different man in ancient times to write down the moral lessons needed for quality life and salvation. So, if I find those more ancient writings incorporated in the Holy Scriptures placed before me by my society, I am not surprised.
My Moslem neighbors and my Fundamentalist Christian relatives believe God wrote it all down and handed it to man to obey.
Knowing a few things about these issues I'd like to say that simply believing the Scriptures were handed down directly by God on stone tablets does not mean you will necessarily believe or not believe that evolution is possible. Many Fundamentalist Christians and most Moslems (who've been educated) accept evolution as possible. Many Fundamentalist Christians and many Moslems think it's creation all the way down ~
Interesting eh!
There’s more fun in Jesus than in what the world offers as “fun”. Maybe someday you’ll find that out, but probably the hard way, judging by your post.
I’m not saying I believe it. I’m saying God could have used it. And it is possible to believe in both because I think God was the master scientist and put the earth together like one.
