A Philadelphia man who lingered at his gym to get a chance to work out with President-elect Barack Obama said he was smitten with Obama's personality and his soft skin.

Stepp Stewart said he worked out with Obama on Tuesday, when he was in Philadelphia for a National Governors Association meeting.

"I get off the bike. He looks me dead in the eye. He shook my hand," Stewart told the local NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C.

"I held onto it as long as I could," Stewart added. "His hands were soft as butter!"

Stewart said he heard that Obama was visiting his gym after he had finished his workout, prompting him to return to the gym.

Wait a minute—I thought Mr. O was a total freak of nature he-man who can do 100 lb dumbbell curls [cf. that story about him working out in Germany] one after the other after the other...yet, he has baby-soft hands?

I’m no gym rat, but the few times in my life that I *have* lifted any sort of weights, my hands almost immediately calloused up.

So one of these two claims—his strength or his smoothness—is a lie. I’ll leave it to you to guess which one.

Now THAT’S a Ma-yun!

Before he was advised by his doctor to stop doing it, President Bush went on regular 5K runs and he ran them in 21 minutes, not bad for a guy in his 50's. I had just quit smoking cigs in 2002 and started running to get back in shape and clean out my lungs. I read about President Bush being a runner and the times he was doing and it genuinely inspired me to stick with running. Although I tried, I still can't get my 5K run down to 21 minutes though! :-)
