An Ugly Attack on Mormons
The easiest targets for an organized campaign against religious freedom of conscience.
By Jonah Goldberg
Did you catch the political ad in which two Jews ring the doorbell of a nice working-class family? They barge in and rifle through the wifes purse and then the mans wallet for any cash. Cackling, they smash the daughters piggy bank and pinch every penny. We need it for the Wall Street bailout! they exclaim.
No? Maybe you saw the one with the two swarthy Muslims who knock on the door of a nice Jewish family and then blow themselves up?
No? Well, then surely you saw the TV ad in which two smarmy Mormon missionaries knock on the door of an attractive lesbian couple. Hi, were from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! says the blond one with a toothy smile. Were here to take away your rights. The Mormon zealots yank the couples wedding rings from their fingers and then tear up their marriage license.
As the thugs leave, one says to the other, That was too easy. His smirking comrade replies, Yeah, what should we ban next? The voice-over implores viewers: Say no to a church taking over your government.
Obviously, the first two ads are fictional because no one would dare run such anti-Semitic or anti-Muslim attacks.
The third ad, however, was real. It was broadcast throughout California on Election Day as part of the effort to rally opposition to Proposition 8, the initiative that successfully repealed the right to same-sex marriage in the state.
What was the reaction to the ad? Widespread condemnation? Scorn? Rebuke? Tepid criticism?
Nope.
The Los Angeles Times, a principled opponent of Proposition 8, ran an editorial lamenting that the hard-hitting commercial was too little, too late.

So you are saying that if I ask questions and dont follow the lds chant I do not get another chance. Huh? My uncle the bishop says all I have to do is be a good person and Ill get a second chance. Oh well.
Everyone will get a chance, no second chance is guaranteed. You might get a second chance, you might not. you're just not guaranteed one.

So, you're just opposed to people labeling others?
Labeling is one thing I am opposed to, People who claim to believe in Jesus belittling someone else claiming to follow Jesus with a different understanding of the bible is another.

Not all Mormons use the King James version of the Bible.
Actually, the KJV is in the cannon of the LDS church, all "Mormons" use it. And no Mormon uses any version of the Bible as their sole source of scriptural authority.
That is correct, we have more than just the KJV, then again, so do the Catholics...

Jews say they are people, The Nazis said they were not. Mormons say they are Christian...
Enosh:
Exactly what I thought. You would equate anyone you deem anti-mormon with being a Nazi. In your mind You are not in the same religion as me and You are not in the same species as me are somehow the same statement.
If you jump to conclusions you'll just have to swim back <-- Quote
I did not say that, you thought I would so that is what you heard. In my mind we are both christian, don't give up your day job and mind reading is not allowed on this forum.
Enosh:
I can see, then, how you were so easily duped by your false prophet.
If I am wrong than I am found a false witness of God and am in good company

you might want to read
my testimony and tell me just how I was deceived.

LC: Then give us a MORMON, point-by-point analysis of the NC to SHOW us just WHAT is so heretical about it.
We have done this before, go look at your history and you'll find this on threads we have been on before, I'll give you a hint Homoousios.

It is my humble opinion that you DO know much about your Organizations history, and do NOT wish to have to defend it.
LOL, first, I find it hard to believe you have a humble opinion.
Second go read
My Page on FR apparently you haven't before, it exists because I defend my faith.

DU: Elsie, I know Jesus, and you are not Jesus Christ.
LC: But I can speak for Him.
I know you think that, but you do so at your peril.
Please tell me Elsie, how you obtained the gift of speaking for Jesus, tell us all how you became his prophet. We're waiting.

You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.
/so, when are you going to stop what you are doing now and start with the sound doctrine?

LC: There are no more empty Utah's to escape to, so you folks will just have to take a stand anywhere the fight is.
LC, I am sure if you look you will see the threat in your words. Heaven help you if you "attack" the Mormons and they decide to fight where they stand, take your threats of violence somewhere else.

I have found Utah Lighthouse Ministry far more credible than the LDS Church
Yeah yeah, nine versions, all either by people who heard and wrote later or discarded attempts to record what he saw before he got a version that did it justice (the official version is
here). It's funny, Joseph Smith had a third grade education, yet "wrote", OK Dictated the Book of Mormon in one shot with no corrections, should have gotten his account of the first vision down in one shot, and yet you bring up his youth an ignorance every opportunity. You know there are several versions of the Gettysburg address that were discarded, does that make you think less of that address?
The
Salamander letter thing again? The tanners initially liked it and it is the source of all the "folk magic" and "gold hunter" crap being spouted today. The tanners even complained that placing it in a vault while it was studied was "suppression of evidence", now they claim they tried to warn us, LOL! and worse, you believe them!
Do I need to show instances from the bible where prophets were tricked? This is such a tired line of reasoning.
It's actually very simple, all people have to do is ask god
as I have and they will know the truth without all this mumbo jumbo he said, she said crap that is going on on this thread.

If you are truly interested in seeking the truth I would suggest you read through websites like this. I am not interested in investing the time that it takes to have a scriptural debate on Mormonism.
LOL! Please go read this website, I want to bash your religion without having to answer embarrassing questions...

Let's start with Jesus and Satan and men all brothers, here is a section of my page here on FR
Do Mormons Believe Jesus and Satan are brothers?, then when you have read that FM me and ask any questions you have. then once we have addressed what Mormons believe on this "brotherhood thing" we can start to discuss the Godhead of LDS faith. For that I would ask you to read
the first article of faith
you can also explore
Mormons.org and read some of the articles there, also they have a live chat, so you can ask questions there anytime.

I asked Delphi yesterday what he thought constituted persecution. I guess to him it means when you hurt his stupid feelings.
People said people were not attacked here, I said they were, examples were requested, and given.
Thanks for illustrating better than my examples,
