Its clear the young Lubavitcher couple murdered by the terrorists, Rabbi Gavriel Holzberg and his wife Rivka, were the finest of human beings. They were dedicated to promoting goodness in the world in the deepest spiritual sense. They wished only the best for all humanity and also did their best to encourage it, in fact gave their lives for it. You dont have to believe in G-d or even God to understand that. Their horrifying deaths reminded this agnostic that there is indeed something called evil in the world.
So now what do I do? What, indeed, do we all do?..

Agnostic Jew?
Agnostic Jew? Go figure.
He must be a living oxymoron.
Agnostic of Jewish heritage mayhap?
Just a crack of enlightenment in Mr. Simon’s world?
There is good and evil. These people were the embodiment of good. Their lives were taken by pure evil.
It was G-d, or God, if you will, that guided their lives. I think he may be beginning to see that, and how important it is. Maybe not, but one can hope.
he is probably one of the 78% who voted for Obama. They join 50%+ Catholics who voted for Obama.
That was the only explanation that crossed my mind that made any sense.
I am an outright atheist and I believe in evil. You don’t need religious instruction to realize that a man with a gun shooting a man without a gun is wrong. Every human being is born with a moral compass, everybody knows that well trained, armed to the teeth, commandos, slaughtering women and children is evil.
Jewish ethnicity, has his doubts about, apparently, both G-d and God.
As opposed to "something called" good? What kind of supposed secularist is this guy?
Confused, it would seem.
I have met many otherwise rational people, that refuse to admit that there is an active, evil presence which is operating in this world. Once that fact is realized, the implications are immense.
More than a few holocaust survivors are convinced there is no God.
A beloved young Brooklyn rabbi and his wife were among four people with New York ties confirmed dead in the terror spree at a Mumbai Jewish center where hostages reportedly were tied up and the women killed first.

That’s right. And I can understand, fully, why they would question. However there are some great stories of ones becoming ‘Messianic’ after they have confronted the pain.
Remember that it is the agnostic that rejects God...but the loving, all-wise God does not reject the agnostic. Many believers were former agnostics....He knocks on the doors of all our hearts.....some let Him in sooner and others later....to never let Him in is an unneccesary personal human tragedy!
Agnostic Jew? Well, he can indulge himself all he wants. Had he been in that hotel his agnostisim wouldn’t have matter a wit to the Muslim killers.
Caught my eye.
Every person is born with a moral compass? Where is it. Up their ying-yang? No everyone ISN’T born with a ‘’moral compass’’. No Muslim born is moral. Islam is the exact opposite of anything moral.
“More than a few Holocaust survivors are convinced there is no God’’. I wonder if they ever thought who it was that sent the American Army to end the horror.
