No way Burress serves time for this, but unless he has a really good story he may wind up with a felony conviction."

Bloomberg instituted a MANDATORY 3 1/2 year sentence for gun possession in NYC.

“Bloomberg instituted a MANDATORY 3 1/2 year sentence for gun possession in NYC.”

Yes, I hadn’t known about that. Perhaps Burress will have to plead guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge and do 6 months in jail. Or just maybe NYC will try to make an example of him and give him the full 3 1/2 years. That would certainly be an injustice, even for an idiot like Burress.

The only way I see him not doing jail time is if they plead him out to a lesser charge.

But the may make an example out of him, trying to prove no one is above NY gun laws.

Bloomberg's mandatory sentence law was not on the books when P-Diddy, or whatever he calls himself these days, had his gun problems.

“It does not matter if it was legally registered in another state he still cannot carry it in NY.”

Registration is an infringment on a citizens 2nd Amendment. Why has this law not been struck down and laughed out of court? It’s obvious to me.
