A worker died after being trampled and a woman miscarried when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island Wal-Mart Friday morning, witnesses said.
The unidentified worker, employed as an overnight stock clerk, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.

“When I did do Walmart a few years ago, I was at the back of the line and when the doors opened, people rushed in from cars. They handle things badly.”
Most of the Walmarts are open all night anyways and don't keep people out. However, they have to have three times the normal amount of people working to prevent the asswipe customers from stealing all the blitz merchandise and hoarding everything. You can't keep asswipes from acting like asswipes, it's in their DNA.

When did people start acting like farm animals?

This Wal-Mart is mostly located in tha hood! That's what I noticed while watching "World's Dumbest Shoppers" on TV last night. All of the Black Friday stampedes seemed to be of a certain, um, demographic.

Wal-Mart could learn a lot from how Target ran thier Black Friday sales.I imagine if Wal-Mart had the same people in their line that you were with, this wouldn't have happened.

I half agree with both of you. Kids do not “own” property but IMO it's better to teach them to give to charity than forced redistribution because they have too much.

"These folks stomp a human to death over Chinese plastic junk. Imagine if there is a food shortage." There is a reason I live out in the country with a well, septic, nice little bass lake and plenty of game of some sort around.
I worked my whole life not to be completely reliant on the system for everything from drinking water and sanitation to a meager source of nutrition for myself and family. Images like the one you just suggested just reinforce that decision. Now to make sure I have enough ammo...

Yes you can.
Take out the “first come first served”. Concerts have been doing it since the deaths in the 80s.
Give people numbers, hide the merchandise and hand it out from the back room.
Given that many of these people are
1) there for the gamble
2) Relling on ebay
This all needs to be controlled.

Kirkwood, children don’t own things while they are minor and live in their parent’s houses. It is all the parent’s. Even even given to the child. That’s the tradition and the law.

I understand that Wal-Mart was putting out the word to their associates in the Electronics area to take the Wii systems in back so they would “have enough” on Friday.

I agree.
But it sounded like the parents didn’t know that lesson to teach it.

"When did people start acting like farm animals?" Certain types of people seem to display that trait far more than others. If you were to have the exact same situation here in rural Indiana then this never would have happened.
Okay, perhaps if they were putting ammo or John Deere parts on sale at 80% off, but certainly not for some cheap Chinese plastic crap.

Can you imagine when the man fell that people next to him saw it and still walked right over him.I was in a crowd like this. Scary. Once it gets moving, you are powerless. It is impossible to do anything but keep your feet moving and try not to fall. You can't move your arms. They are pinned to your sides. If someone falls, you can't even bend down to help them. Even if you could, you would be knocked over and become another fatality. Advice? Don't get in a crowd like this.
